The Cornerstone Antique was designed to recreate as faithfully as possible the sound of the artist during this period.

In a compact box with connectors on the top (Amen!) we find a circuit of TS808 largely modified with some well felt improvements. Externally, the pedal benefits from the following controls: Gain, Volume, Tone and Presence. As well as 2 mini-toggle switches: Comp and Mids. Inside, quality PCBs, it's beautiful, well done, nothing to say.

With the Antique, we therefore have a circuit capable of reproducing the sound of John Mayer during this period. OK, let's be honest, you will need a few settings to integrate to get there. Let's face it, if you want to get the best out of Antique, you need an excellent Two-Rock channel, just like its main competitor, KarDiaN Serotonin . Reference configuration, the circuit of the Gladio hides a modified TS with some small well-felt adjustments.

Once connected with a Tom Anderson Icon Classic in hand, you activate the pedal which delivers a light, soft drive, with a high mid in front. This one offers a very nice dynamic and avoids the medium "corner corner" of most pedals of its kind. The attack is frank, the drive bends when you go inside. The toggle switch comp works wonderfully by bringing an extremely musical and addictive "squashy" side. The gain range is wide and we appreciate the action of the presence knob which brings back a little extra slamming compared to a "stock" TS808. By associating it with a KLON type pedal or a quality boost, all on a Strato, we are really in the field of Mayer and we. is very close to the sound of the artist (missing more than the 3m long fingers).

The Cornerstone Antique is an excellent, very current TS-like. It does everything the original does, only better and with a lot more possibilities. It will of course be comfortable in a Mayer register, but it will also cover all blues-rock registers and more, where it can be used on an already existing crunch or lead.
