Alocasia ‘Jacklyn’, sometimes referred to as Alocasia tigrina ‘Jacklyn’, is a rare and extraordinary tropical plant that has quickly become a collector’s favourite. A native of Indonesia and a member of the Araceae family, this striking species is prized for its deeply lobed, arrow-shaped leaves and unique, textured veins that create an exotic, sculptural presence.

The large leaves are a rich emerald green with prominent dark, almost black venation, giving them a dramatic, contrasting appearance. The surface is slightly matte and textured, with a velvety feel that enhances its tropical allure. The petioles (stems) are just as fascinating — patterned with tiger-like markings in green and brown tones, adding an extra layer of visual intrigue.

Alocasia ‘Jacklyn’ perfectly balances elegance and wild beauty, making it one of the most distinctive statement plants for indoor spaces, terrariums, or warm conservatories.

Alocasia ‘Jacklyn’ – Care Guide

Light

Thrives in bright, indirect light. Too little light may lead to slower growth and smaller leaves, while harsh direct sunlight can burn the leaf surface. East- or north-facing rooms are ideal, or use sheer curtains to diffuse light.

Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm feels dry, allowing excess water to drain freely. Like most Alocasias, ‘Jacklyn’ dislikes standing water. In winter, reduce watering and allow the soil to dry slightly more between waterings.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Temperature: Prefers warmth, ideally 20–28°C. Avoid draughts and temperatures below 16°C.

  • Humidity: Requires high humidity (60–80%). Mist regularly, use a pebble tray, or run a humidifier to prevent leaf crisping and to encourage lush growth.

Soil and Potting

Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix — peat-free compost blended with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works best. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh the soil and allow root expansion.

Feeding

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Avoid overfeeding, as this can cause root burn and reduce the intensity of the foliage’s colour contrast.

Pruning and Maintenance

Remove any yellowing or older leaves at the base to keep the plant healthy and encourage new growth. Clean the leaves gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and highlight their beautiful texture and pattern.

Growth and Maturity

A moderate grower, typically reaching 60–90 cm tall indoors. Mature plants develop larger, more dramatically lobed leaves and thicker, tiger-striped petioles. When happy, it will produce new leaves regularly during the growing season.

Common Issues

  • Yellow leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.

  • Brown leaf edges: Low humidity or irregular watering.

  • Drooping leaves: Temporary stress from repotting or environmental changes.

  • Pests: Occasionally thrips, spider mites, or mealybugs — wipe leaves regularly and maintain humidity to deter them.

Background and Benefits

Alocasia ‘Jacklyn’ was first discovered in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and is believed to be a naturally occurring mutation of Alocasia portei. Its wild aesthetic and bold venation have made it one of the most recognisable Alocasias among plant collectors.

Beyond its stunning appearance, it also contributes to a sense of tranquillity and nature in interior spaces. With proper warmth, humidity, and care, it rewards growers with large, sculptural foliage that exudes pure tropical drama.

Quick Care Summary

  • Light: Bright, indirect; avoid direct sun

  • Water: Keep evenly moist; allow topsoil to dry slightly

Great for a costume, but not for every day
Color: White, Size: Medium
I'm not sure what I was really expecting, but these pants made me feel like I was in the song zoot suit riot and/or Dick Tracy was trying to find me. They honestly just feel very costume-ish as opposed to being something dressy. I couldn't see myself wearing these to a job interview, which is kind of my standard for what qualifies as "dress clothes." However, they do fit quite well in the waist the and down the leg. I have a wide variety of clothing options, but I even find it difficult to pair anything with these pants.

Lightweight Fabric with a Bit of Stretch
Color: Black, Size: Medium, Color: Black, Size: Medium
I'm a fan of any fabric that has a small percentage of Spandex in the blend -- like these pants. (Along with mostly polyester and viscose.) It's not noticeably stretchy but the comfort is there. The fabric is very light and smooth -- and the stripes make a nice design statement. (They're giving me "gangster" vibes. Ha!) I have a 32" waist and the Medium fits me perfectly (with a little room to spare). I do have to hem the bottoms since I'm on the short side, but they taper nicely down the leg. There's an "adjustable waist" mentioned in the headline description, but I don't see anything resembling an adjustable waist on the pants. Just a hook and button closure. (Maybe I'm missing something?) I'm happy to add these to my wardrobe.

Second Best Bifold I’ve Owned
Color: Black
I’ve gone through a lot of wallets over the years (cheap ones, expensive ones, slim cardholders, you name it), and this Timberland bifold with the attached flip pocket is easily the best all-around wallet I’ve ever carried. The leather is excellent: full-grain, soft right out of the box, and it’s aged beautifully in just a few months with a rich patina that actually looks better with every scratch and scuff. Build quality is top-notch: tight, even stitching, no loose threads, and the edges are finished cleanly. Four months of daily front-pocket carry and it still looks practically new. Layout is perfect for me. Six card slots plus the two slip pockets behind them handle everything I need (10 cards + a few folded bills) without getting bulky. The attached flip ID window is a game-changer; I keep my driver’s license and work badge there and can show either in seconds without opening the wallet. Cash fits easily in the full-length bill compartment. It’s genuinely slim for a traditional leather bifold, sits comfortably in both front and back pockets, and never feels like a brick. The embossed Timberland logo is subtle and classy. At this point I can’t imagine switching to anything else. It’s durable, functional, looks sharp, and was a fraction of the price of some “luxury” wallets that didn’t last half as long. If you want a classic leather bifold that actually delivers, this is it. 100% recommended; already planning to buy another as a backup.

Rugged Timberland Quality—The Best Bifold for "Double ID" Needs
Color: Black (Sportz)
Design & Capacity: I’ve been using this wallet for two weeks, and it’s a powerhouse for organization. The attached flip pocket is a game-changer for me because I have to carry both a driver's license and a work security badge. The two ID windows let me show both without digging through card slots. Genuine Leather: Looks and smells premium; will likely weather nicely with age. The Slimness Factor: Timberland calls this a "slimfold," and while it is thinner than a traditional trifold, the flip-out pocket does add some depth. With 6 cards and 5 bills, it measures about 0.75 inches thick. It fits comfortably in my back pocket, but it might be a bit much for a front-pocket-only user.
