Epiphyllum guatemalense ‘Monstrose’, often nicknamed the “Curly Locks Cactus” or simply “Curly Epiphyllum,” is a bizarre and beautiful cultivar of a jungle cactus native to the rainforests of Guatemala and parts of Central America. In the wild, the species (Epiphyllum guatemalense) grows as an epiphyte—anchoring itself to trees in humid, shaded environments where it absorbs moisture and nutrients from the air and rain.

Description

The ‘Monstrose’ variety is a cultivated mutation prized for its fantastically twisted and contorted stems. Instead of the flat, strap-like stems typical of most Epiphyllums, this form sports irregular, curled, ribbon-like growth that gives the plant a wild, untamed appearance. It’s a conversation piece in any collection, often grown in hanging baskets where its spiraled stems can cascade downward like abstract green ribbons. While its unique foliage is the star of the show, it may occasionally produce large, white, night-blooming flowers in the right conditions, though flowering is rare in this cultivar.

Care Tips

As a tropical epiphyte, Epiphyllum guatemalense ‘Monstrose’ prefers filtered light—bright but indirect. It will scorch in direct sun, especially during the hottest parts of the day, but too little light will slow growth. Morning sun or dappled shade is ideal.

Use a very well-draining potting mix—an orchid or cactus mix with added perlite or bark chips works well. Water thoroughly when the top few centimeters of soil feel dry, and reduce watering in winter. Avoid letting it sit in soggy soil, as this can cause root rot.

It thrives in warm, humid conditions but is surprisingly tolerant of indoor dryness if not overwatered. Fertilize lightly during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Prune unruly or overly long stems to maintain shape or encourage branching.

With the right care, Epiphyllum guatemalense ‘Monstrose’ is an easygoing, eye-catching plant perfect for tropical-style gardens, shaded patios, or as an indoor hanging feature. Its eccentric growth habit adds texture and a touch of whimsy wherever it grows.

CULTIVATION TIPS

We recommend purchasing 2 or 3 cuttings when planting up a pot as it will ensure the development of a robust and aesthetic plant.

Epiphyllum do best in partial shade in a fertile soil mix. Keep reasonable moist throughout the year, a little less so in winter. They enjoy humidity and so benefit from spraying.

Made of Excellent Ingredients based in YUKA App.
Size: 1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I usually buy this in physical store however, since the price are the same either through here in Amazon or physical stores, I decided to buy it here for a hassle free shopping. I love that it was packed so nicely. It arrived on sealed packaging and it is authentic Olay Super Serum that I always buy instores. What I love about this product? I started using it in 2024. I am Asian (Filipina), 36yrs old and is in Texas now. Living in Texas was kinda like Philippines but it gave me itchiness and pimples. I used Ponds often when in Philippines but using it in Texas gives me the results that never ever happened when still in Philippines. Like: redness, easily gets sunburn, dry face, itchy face, oily skin. Later on I scan this Olay Super Serum using the YUKA App. It said this product is made of excellent ingredients and that’s how I started using this product. I started with a trial size then later bought the bigger size. If you have pimples, make sure to wash it with mild cold water. NOT HOT OR LUKEWARM WATER. Then apply this product once or twice daily. When I had a sunburn, I used this product 3x but just light. I then noticed my skin gets hydrated, get cured from itchiness and helped me stop my pimples. I always tried to stop using this but I always end up buying it again. It’s the only product so far that is consistent to take care of my facial needs. The scent smells good too.

Too strongly scented. It does nice things for the skin, but I truly wish it was fragrance-free

Highly recommended as a 2nd phone or primary phone if your needs are not too demanding
Color: Blue
I was looking for a small phone to replace my Jelly Pro/Palm. This phone resolves all the issues with thes older phones in regards to performance. Phone is very responsive and has minimum/no lag for my general use. The screen is clear and usable, though viewing take a slight hit when at more extreme angles. With Android 13 loaded, it allows me to use Android auto (Android 8 and the Jelly Pro/Palm doesn't support this ability). Unihertz has published that the phone will get Android 16 in April, 2026, bringing the OS up-to-date. Touch screen works better than either of the older phones and I have had no issues typing. Battery is much better than the prior phones, lasting about slightly less than my Pixel 9a. Charging is very quick given the small battery size the max charging speed of the phone. The phone is thicker than the other phones, but overall thickness actually makes the phone easier to handle. The phone works fine with T-Mobile. CONS The buttons are not placed well for me as a right-hander. It is awkward to reach the volume buttons. Also, the fingerprint reader is badly placed for such a small phone. I have to awkwardly squinch my finger to reach it. Additionally, it doesn't always read correctly. I do believe the camera is slightly better, but not close to a normal sized phone. It will work in a pinch, but wouldn't use it on vacation for memories I wanted to keep. The phone is missing the ability to support an eSim. The phone is larger and heavier than the older 2 phones, but this allows for the larger battery/longer run times. Also, the case it difficult to take off the first time to put in your SIM because of the shape of the phone. This is a great 2nd phone for use around your normal area of business or when exercising. If you take one phone when you travel, I would get a more flexible standard phone that supports eSim and has a camera that takes high quality pictures/video.

Sensible Phone.
Color: Blue
This is a life-changing device. Thank you, Unihertz for making it. It's really helpful if you have small hands and are tired of (physically and mentally) using a large phone. I have a behemoth in the form of S24 Ultra. I juts got so frustrated one day about its size and ordered this device. It's working great with my Mint Mobile; which uses T-Mobile's network. Apparently, AT&T doesn't work on this; so, watch out for that one. The size is perfect for reaching the top corners of the screen. Personally, I am able to type precisely. Google Keyboard's swiping function, as on other devices, helps greatly here too. It's a pleasure to hold a device of this size in my hands while making calls once again; takes me back to my dumb phone era days. It's perfect for not doom scrolling. The programmable button is great to save time. You can set it to any app you want. It offers three shortcuts with that button: a short click, a long press, and a double click. My short click opens up calculator; the long press activates flashlight (and turns it off); the double click opens up a third party timer app. I'm impressed by all the other features that device is able to house-- like, decibel level measuring app, a bubble level app, of course the IR blaster, a native compass app, etc. It's a thoughtful phone that works like a tool, rather than like a landmine of distraction and doom scrolling. It also works great with my Airpods. The fingerprint reader on my unit requires a precise placement of my finger. It's not too forgiving.

Great for decreasing screen time, a great phone with great features
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
I love the form factor of this phone. Perfect for those trying to decrease time spent online. Battery life is very good considering how small the phone is. I could often go 2 days without charging. Most apps work well, would occasionally have to turn the screen landscape to use some apps. My one complaint. The water resistance was not great in my experience. I took it on a run, and some sweat migrated between the screen and plastic case, and it was toast. (Pictured) I understand obviously phones can’t get wet, but when I tell you it was minimal. I truly loved this device…….if they would be willing to fix mine or send me another I would be ecstatic. If a version with better water resistance is released I will be buying.
