Make room in your landscape for Swamp Rose Mallow. This native wildflower gives off a shrub-like appearance and can reach heights of 6 feet tall! Hummingbirds love these blooms and you'll often find various species of bees tucked inside collecting pollen.
Just like its name, it prefers moist locations and partial shade. Blooms anywhere from July to September and since it's a perennial, it will continue to bloom and beautify your landscape year after year!
We've included Swamp Rose Mallow in our Sedge Meadow Native Seed Mix. This is a great seed mix for those wetter areas of your landscape that could benefit from the addition of native plants.
How To Plant Swamp Rose Mallow Seeds:
Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze / thaw cycles and in early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun. Can take 3 growing seasons to fully establish.
