Red Volunteer Daylily is one of many Oakes Introductions and a favorite of garden visitors and past customers. Known for its large, velvety red blooms, Red Volunteer Daylily is popular among gardeners for its easy care, long blooming period, and adaptability.
Each flower features a bold, ruby-red hue with a yellow throat, creating a striking contrast that draws the eye. The blooms, which can reach 7" in diameter, appear on tall, sturdy stalks that can grow to 30", making them a standout in any landscape.
Red Volunteer Daylily is consistently at the top of the Popularity Poll and was runner up for the Stout Medal. It was also chosen as an All-American Selection, Award of Merit, featured in Better Homes and Gardens as an Editor’s Choice, and winner of the Lenington All American Award for varieties that perform well around the country.
As a mid season bloomer, we begin to see the beautiful blooms of Red Volunteer around the middle of June. If you live to our north, you'll see them a bit after we do. If you live to our south, you'll notice them a couple of weeks before us.
Red Volunteer is a semi-evergreen daylily. This means that it can be grown in gardens across the country.
Plant this beauty with bright yellow, bold gold or sizzling orange daylilies for a garden that looks like the epitome of summer!
