This naturally occurring cultivar of Echeveria agavoides is native to high elevation rocky outcroppings in the plateau region of central Mexico (San Luis Potosi). The plant has distinctive apple-green to yellowish-green leaves with vivid red-pink edges that increase in intensity when exposed to high heat and low water conditions. The leaves terminate in a spine, reminiscent of an agave, and are fleshy, making them difficult to detach without breaking.

Echeveria agavoides 'Lipstick' is an evergreen, unbranching succulent that forms clumps of individual rosettes around 6 cm tall and up to 30 cm in width.
