Every landscape needs a "pop" of bright color, doesn't it? Bring some glorious light to your garden with the oversized leaves of Royal Hawaiian® Maui Gold Elephant Ear (Colocasia esculenta 'Maui Gold' PP# 24,482).
Maui Gold Elephant Ear features outstanding sagittate leaves that are shaped like an arrowhead. Their high-gloss finish brightens the look of your landscape...even if you choose to grow them in partial shade.
Use a stand of Maui Gold Elephant Ear as a contrasting backdrop for one of our darker Colocasia. Or, let their luminous foliage play off the award-winning charms of Cannova® Bronze Scarlet Canna.
Plant them in an outdoor container for a gorgeous display on your balcony. This choice makes the perfect "Thriller" that can be dressed up or down as you like.
Because the large leaves are large and held on strong stalks, they'll twist and turn in the breeze. Go ahead and tell yourself that's the wind coming in off the ocean!
Textured Maui Gold Elephant Ear looks almost as good from the back as it does from the front! This makes it a great choice to use in an island bed where people will see it from all angles.
Look closely at the top of each leaf where the veins come together in a "piko". The Maui Gold piko deepens to a pretty blue-purple.
It features an upright growth habit that fits even small space gardens. The unique leaves cascade down in an organically flowing appearance.
In Zones 8 - 11, grow them in the ground with plenty of moisture. They'll do great at the water's edge as a captivating foliage plant.
Otherwise, consider them a gorgeous annual. Or, dig and lift the corms to store in a cool, dry place overwinter.
Make your guests go green and gold with envy this season. Order your Royal Hawaiian Maui Gold Elephant Ear from the expert growers at Nature Hills today!
