It is preferable that the soil does not contain much organic material, such as peat moss and that the plant is not fertilized with heavy nitrogen as this can cause an explosion of soft, flabby growth that can make the plant prone to bacterial rots. Decomposed granite is often an excellent media as it has many trace minerals and is similar to the South African quartz fields where these and others of the "Stone Mimicry" are found growing. Francie Isn't Interested

Cute, colorful and appears well made. I can't comment on how well it holds up to heavy chewing as my Jackshund (Francie) doesn't seem interested in it...possibly because it does not have a squeaker... It is a good size, not soft and squishy but harder (rope), which is why I purchased it, hoping it would last longer than some other dog toys that Francie has ripped apart. I may pass it on to two large granddogs.
