The majesty palm is a tropical, evergreen perennial native to Madagascar and a member of the palm family (Arecaceae). While it has a small native range, it is a popular houseplant all over the world. The species epithet refers to the palm's preferred habitat, the edges of rivers and streams.
To care for a Majesty Palm, provide bright indirect light, maintain consistently moist soil by watering when the top inch dries out, ensure high humidity levels through misting or a humidifier, and keep the temperature between 65-75°F; use a well-draining potting mix and only prune to remove yellow or brown fronds; be mindful of overwatering as yellowing leaves can indicate this issue while brown tips suggest underwatering.
