How OXYGO SUPER Works
Mode of Action
Oxyfluorfen is a PPO-inhibitor herbicide (HRAC Group 14) that blocks the protoporphyrinogen oxidase enzyme in germinating weeds. In sunlight, this triggers rapid membrane peroxidation weed seedlings desiccate and die within 24–72 hours of emergence.
Where It Acts
- Absorbed mainly through shoots of emerging weeds, partly through roots
- Forms a thin herbicidal barrier in the top 2–3 cm of soil
- Active on germinating weeds and very young 1–2 leaf stage weeds

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC used for?
Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC is used as a pre-emergence herbicide to control broadleaf weeds and annual grasses in onion, garlic, cotton, soybean, direct-seeded rice, sugarcane, tea, and coffee plantations.
What is the dose of Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC for onion?
The recommended dose is 400 ml per acre (1.0 L per hectare) mixed in 200 liters of water, sprayed within 0–3 days after transplanting onion seedlings.
Can OXYGO SUPER be sprayed on a standing crop?
No. Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC is a pre-emergence herbicide and will cause leaf burn on standing crops. For limited early post-emergence use in onion or garlic, spray only after the crop reaches the 2–3 true-leaf stage using a hooded spray.
When should I spray OXYGO SUPER in onion and garlic?
Spray within 0–3 days of transplanting in onion and 0–3 days of sowing in garlic, on moist soil, before weed seeds germinate.
Is Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC safe for cotton?
Yes, at the registered pre-emergence dose of 400 ml per acre, sprayed within 1–3 days of sowing — before both crop and weed emergence.
Can OXYGO SUPER be tank-mixed with other herbicides?
Yes. It is commonly tank-mixed with Pendimethalin 30% EC or 38.7% CS to widen the weed control spectrum in onion and cotton. Always perform a jar compatibility test first.
How long does Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC stay active in soil?
It provides 30–45 days of residual weed control. Soil half-life is roughly 30–40 days depending on soil type, moisture, and temperature.
