Florida Fan Palm-Washingtonia Robusta

Washingtonian Robusta grows to 25 m (82 ft) tall, rarely up to 30 m (98 ft). The leaves have a petiole up to 1 m (3.3 ft) long, and a palmate fan of leaflets up to 1 m long. The inflorescence is up to 3 m (9.8 ft) long, with numerous small pale orange-pink Flowers. The Fruit is a spherical, blue-black Drupe, 6–8 mm (0.24–0.31 in) diameter; it is edible, though thin-fleshed. Fan palm tips are usually brown but can be cut to clean up. For Altar Decorations Prior to using, cut each stem diagonal just above the end of the stem, and place in fresh water for 3 hours. Cutting and placing stems in water allows the leaf to draw water up making the leaf open COMPLETELY.

Botanical Name: Arecaceae ⁄ Palmae – Palm family 

  • Member of the Arecaceae or Palmae (palm family).
  • Is a Palm Tree native to Western Sonora, and Baja California Sur in Northwestern Mexico.
  • It is reportedly naturalized in Florida, California, Hawaii, Texas, Parts of the Canary Island, Italy Spain.
  • Date, coconut and Washington palms are common relatives.
  • Leaves are 36" x 20" inches in diameter.
  • Classed as a monocotyledon, leaves mostly parallel veined.

55-60 F.

Common Uses:
  • Commonly used as an indoor plant. From the Greek “Chamia” (on the ground) and “Dorea” (a gift) meaning that the fruit hang low to the ground and are therefore easy to get.
  • Members of this family provide the world with many products including food (coconut and oil), ornamental, wax, fibers and beverages.
  • While it can be grown in southern Florida, most of this crop is grown in Mexico and Guatemala for both economic and cultural reasons. Namely, even in southern Florida it can get too cold for this species.
  • In 1981 showed that vase-life was increased from about 7 to 28 days in water simply by re-cutting the stems.

I’ve never loved a bar of soap so much.

For starters, I suffer with severe sensitive skin, Eczema (which also has a huge gut health component) - however I’ve been struggling pretty bad the last few months. I’ve always wanted to try more tallow products, and know how amazing honey and castor oil is for health and rejuvenation (inside and out). I figured what the heck this is a pretty decent price. When I say I do not want to stop using the bar so I mean it like it is now becoming a struggle for me to get out of the shower because I want to keep blathering up because it feels so good. As a bartender and someone who hates having dirty hands - I really hate washing my hands, despite how much I feel obligated to do it. I’m contemplating bringing a bar of soap With me wherever I go so that I have good soap to use 😆. I’m about to buy some from my mom and try other products. I will update if my skin issues have subsided (in a month or so I reckon). I am getting an Eczema patch on my stomach/torso area, my inner thigh to my knee, and back of legs as well. As well as for the last month despite how much dry skin I take off my face, And how much castor oil I rub in - even with a moist appearing face - the flaky skin pokes through. I immediately felt soft skin upon using this product on my face. Normally, I would test out a small area, but with only a few ingredients I was like screw it. I ran out of soap and it’s either that or using watered down castile. Please give this a try. I cannot attest for the scented versions. Also, I saw someone say that it burned their eyes? Castile burns my eyes - this, does not. (And I probably scrub my eyes harder than I should post makeup remover - which is a balm - and just on the eyes).
