Mamey is the national fruit of Cuba, this is a vigorous tree that produces large 20 to 30oz Mamey fruit which ripens April to October depending on the variety. The brown sand shape outer skin fruit has a rich flavor, and texture of sweet potato pudding and it is best served as a milkshake.

Mamey fruit can be difficult to tell when the fruit is mature and ready to pick, because they do not have a color break like mangos, and they will still be rock hard.
