Foliage may be lightly sheared back after flowering to revitalize the plant, but it’s not necessary. A hardy perennial (zones 4-9), it is both heat and cold tolerant. Plant 'Vision Violet' in average to compost-enriched well-drained soil in a full sun to full shade location. It prefers average watering. Deer and rabbit resistant, bees, and butterflies love the flowers. Over time it will gently naturalize to form low mounding tidy masses.
