ZZ Plant ‘Black Raven’ (Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’) is a distinctive cultivar of the classic ZZ Plant, known for its dramatic, glossy foliage that matures from bright green to deep purple-black. New growth emerges lime green before gradually darkening, creating a striking contrast against mature stems. The thick, waxy leaflets grow in a symmetrical, feather-like arrangement along upright stalks, delivering bold architectural presence in any interior space.
Native to Eastern Africa, Zamioculcas zamiifolia is adapted to periods of drought and fluctuating light, making it exceptionally resilient indoors. The ‘Raven’ cultivar maintains the durability of the species while offering enhanced ornamental appeal through its rich, dark pigmentation. Its strong vertical form and slow, steady growth make it well suited for modern interiors, offices, and low-maintenance plant collections.
Often marketed as Black Raven ZZ or Raven ZZ Plant, this cultivar remains botanically classified as Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Raven’. It offers the same dependable care profile as the species, with added visual drama.
