Aglaonema Care Guide
Light
Enjoys low to bright indirect light. Avoid harsh midday sun to preserve colour and leaf sheen.
Water
Let the top 3–5 cm of the mix dry between drinks. Water less in winter and never leave the pot sitting in water.
Humidity & Temperature
Average indoor humidity is fine (an occasional mist is appreciated). Best between 18–29 °C. Keep away from cold drafts.
Soil & Feeding
Use a premium, free-draining indoor mix. Feed monthly in spring–summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength or sea weed fertilizer (once/month) + slow release fertilizer (once/year).
Growth Habit & Size
Slow to moderate growth; most types reach 40–80 cm tall and wide indoors. Many aglaonema pink/red cultivars remain compact.
Flowering
Occasional pale spathes may appear (aglaonema flower / chinese evergreen flower). Many growers remove them to keep energy on foliage.
Pets & Safety
Like many aroids, not pet-safe if chewed. Keep away from pets and small children.
Aglaonema Styling & Placement
- Brighten dim corners with a Chinese evergreen plant.
- Smaller Aglaonema specimens brighten up shelving or office tables.
FAQ
Will Aglaonemas grow in low light?
Yes—aim for bright to low indirect light. They do not like direct sun.
How often should I water my Aglaonema?
Water when the top few centimetres are dry. Overwatering is the most common mistake—ensure good drainage.
Do they need repotting?
Repot your Aglaonema every 12–18 months or when roots circle the base. Increase pot size by only 2–5 cm.
Can I choose a specific variety?
Yes—leave an order note (e.g., aglaonema pink, aglaonema red, silver queen plant, aglaonema thai snowflake). We’ll do our best based on current stock.
Tip: Prefer a specific variety? Leave your request in the order notes at checkout.
