Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde'

Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' is a robust climbing aroid grown for long, narrow leaves marked with irregular green and pale mottling. The pattern is usually streaked rather than blocky, so each leaf develops its own balance of lime, olive, deeper green and lighter markings. Mature growth can look much larger and more elongated than juvenile plants, especially when the stem is allowed to climb.

It develops a vining stem with nodes, aerial roots and leaves that size up best when they can attach to support. With maturity, the plant becomes a clearly vertical climber with longer supported growth.

Narrow mottled blades and a robust climbing habit

  • Stem behaviour: Climbing growth with aerial roots and longer internodes than self-heading Philodendron.
  • Leaf shape: Narrowly oblong to triangular blades that can become larger and more defined with maturity.
  • Colour pattern: Irregular green and pale mottling with natural variation between leaves.
  • Support response: A pole or plank encourages stronger leaf size and a tidier vertical plant.

Belém provenance and mature vine growth

Philodendron sp. 'Paraiso Verde' is linked to Mr Natalino’s nursery in Belém and was named by Chandra G. Hendarto. The plant is described as a robust, probably hemi-epiphytic Philodendron with narrow mottled green and white leaf blades, undulating margins and mild quilting along the midrib.

Young plants may produce smaller, slimmer leaves, while supported mature stems can develop longer blades with clearer venation and stronger climbing rhythm.

The mottling can vary between individual plants and leaves, with a changing pattern across new blades as the stem develops.

Care for long, mottled Paraiso Verde leaves

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. The long leaves scorch in direct midday sun, while very low light can produce stretched stems and smaller growth.
  • Watering: Let the upper substrate dry before watering again. Water deeply, then allow excess water to drain fully from the pot.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky aroid mix that holds some moisture while leaving air around the roots. Bark, pumice, perlite, coco chips and coarse organic matter suit the climbing root system.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity supports smoother leaf expansion. Use a humidifier or plant grouping if indoor air is very dry.
  • Temperature: Keep consistently warm, ideally 18–28°C. Growth slows in cooler conditions, and cold wet roots can decline quickly.
  • Training: Tie the stem loosely to a moss pole, plank or trellis while it is still flexible. Aerial roots attach more readily when they meet a stable surface.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth. Heavy feeding will not improve the mottling and can damage roots if salts build up in the substrate.

Issues to watch on Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde'

  • Long bare stem sections: Increase light gradually and give the plant a stable support. Unsupported stems often stretch and lean.
  • Several yellow leaves at once: Check whether the pot is staying wet for too long. Root stress can move quickly through a climbing stem.
  • Dry, torn new leaves: Raise humidity and keep watering more even during active growth. New leaves can catch in the sheath when air is very dry.
  • Brown leaf edges: Check for inconsistent watering, mineral build-up or dry air. Flush the substrate occasionally if fertiliser salts accumulate.
  • Fine speckling or distorted leaves: Inspect for thrips and spider mites, especially on newer growth and along the midrib.

Safety for pets and children

Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' is not pet-safe. As with other Philodendron, chewing leaves or stems can cause irritation from calcium oxalate crystals. Keep cuttings, trimmed leaves and the whole plant away from pets and children, and wash hands after handling sap.

Name origin and aroid background

Philodendron is a member of Araceae, the aroid family. The genus name comes from Greek words meaning “loving trees”, which fits the climbing habit of many Philodendron. 'Paraiso Verde' is Spanish and Portuguese for “green paradise”, matching the plant’s green-dominant mottled foliage.

Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' develops elongated mottled leaves and strong vertical growth when trained on a pole.

Not the best
Color: Beige, Size: Large
Not the best fabric shaver I’ve used, by a long shot. While I appreciate the shield for protecting expensive fabrics, it stands in the way of being able to effectively use this. I have some thinner cashmere and merino sweaters with some pilling that I was really hoping to fix and this didn’t do a good job and was more of a headache due to the shield problem. The lint roller is okay but not as much adhesive as others I have so is not as efficient at picking up lint and requires multiple rounds to remove the lint. It’s lightweight and straightforward to use but wish it worked better. This is okay for the price but spending a few bucks more will get you a set that’s more effective, which is worth it in the long run to save you time on what should really otherwise be simples tasks to do.

Works great and lovely color!

A decent lint remover and great fabric shaver. I have so many tops that bead and this fabric shaver has become a most effective way to remove those little fuzzies and beaded areas of fabric that make my tops look old. This makes my clothes look new. It’s extremely easy to use but it does not include the 2 AA batteries you’ll need, so definitely grab you some. It’s durable and does the job fast. Overall, very handy, a good value, and excellent quality. I would recommend!

pretty junk-y. worst lint roller ever created.
Color: Sage, Size: Large, Color: Sage, Size: Large
My review is for the Farberware Fabric Shaver & Lint Remover Set–Battery Operated Sweater Shaver with Triple Blades and Extra Sticky Roller for Pet Hair, Fuzz & Pilling on Clothes, Upholstery & Bedding (Sage, Large) (Sage, Large) Honestly, this is one of the worst fabric shavers I've used. It is also absolutely the worst lint roller I have ever used. And I've used the IKEA ones that are even much cheaper than this. Absolutely do not push us this, unless you make your life more difficult or find that you have no benefit to your clothes whatsoever.

It shouldn’t be this hard to use, don’t like the fabric guard
Color: Gray/Blue, Size: Large
This review is for the Best Brands listing “Farberware Large Lint Remover & Fabric Shaver Set – Battery Powered Sweater Shaver with Triple Blades and Extra Sticky Roller for Pet Hair, Fuzz & Pilling on Clothes & Furniture“. This set contains a fabric shaver as well as a lint removal roller. The fabric shaver needs batteries, not included, and the orientation is weirdly not marked on the side that takes the batteries but instead on the outside of the battery lid, on the last surface you’d check. So even though this needed a very normal two AA batteries it was still harder to install than it needed to be. Also, emptying the lint collector is harder than it needs to be. I need to use both hands and hold the remover against my body to detach the lint container. It comes off with a “click” that does not bode well for the durability of the device. As for using the lint remover, it does an ok job. It has a fabric guard to presumably prevent anyone creating holes in the fabric they’re cleaning and the guard can be lowered/raised slightly. However, it keeps the lint remover far enough away from the fabric you need to press pretty hard to get decent results and you can’t get as close as you need in some areas due to the bulk of the plastic guard. The handle is also a little bulky, it’s like they made the entire device larger instead of just making the shaving surface and the lint catcher larger. The lint roller was pretty standard. I have long nails and usually struggle with detailed tasks, but I was able to get to the sticky panels without too much hassle. Although u made a bit of a mess trying to get the lint roller started, the roller was nicely sticky and lasted a little longer than some cheaper alternatives. I was able to get the sticky sheet to tear at the perforated edge easily. I have used the shaver to clean an old wool sweater as well as a newer pair of jersey sweatpants, and the results were ok but I prefer my smaller, older lint remover for effectiveness and ease of use. The lint roller was very nice, although I sort of expected the pretty pattern to be on the entire roll not just the front cover. This set works ok, but I really don’t like the lint remover and am removing a star because it’s harder to use than it should be, including the presence of the bulky fabric guard.
