I absolutely loved this book and read it in a day. The second POV towards the end of the book with Ronnie’s chapters was a refreshing change and enables the reader to understand little Teddy’s backstory. A tough beginning for sure. I loved the high stakes throughout the book, the twists and, as always, the surprising turn of events at the end. There were a few things I wasn’t sure about. Would Naomi have gone to the birthday party and done what she did with so much to risk? As a mother, I’m not sure it made sense and somehow it frustrated me a little. I won’t go into specifics but the hair cutting was sooo triggering! I thought Teddy’s secret code was a clever addition to the story and ramped up the pace at the end. Really scary and I thought they’d never make it. I think with a little more development and detail this book would have been a clear 5 star winner for me. It was almost over too soon. But I loved the premise. As a result, I gave it 4.4 stars. It was a quick and fun read, as all Freida’s books are. She definitely is an auto-buy author. I’m obsessed!

The ending was absolutely wild and left me sitting there replaying everything in my head afterward. Another fabulous read from Frieda McFadden. She truly has become one of my automatic-read authors because she never fails to entertain me. If you love psychological thrillers with nonstop tension, unreliable characters, and jaw-dropping endings, this one is definitely worth the read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
