Fine coconut husk mix is finally back in stock!  After many years hiatus, I have finally found a good and reliable (I hope) source of fine coconut husk chips. The chips are beautifully even at about 1/4" with very little loose fiber.  I have mixed these chips with fine horticultural charcoal, and #3 sponge rock.    It's a delicious mix for all your seedling and small orchids... especially those that object to frequent repotting.   

Because of the lasting quality of coconut husk, repotting can be as infrequent as every four or five years!  This also make coconut husk mixes more economical than traditional fir bark mixes.

And the properties of coconut Husk make it an ideal choice for orchids!  Not only is it a renewable resource and sustainably harvested, but it's incredible moisture retentive without feeling wet. Take a moist piece in your hand.. it doesn't feel wet... squeeze it and out comes a drop or two of water. Orchids just love this.. they get good air flow around their roots, but are bathed with the moisture being given off.  Give your orchids the chance to flourish with this fine coconut husk mix.
