Description
plant my seed in her meaning Gardening for Biodiversity: Native Plants for the NortheastThe richly diverse palette of shapes, colors, lifestyles, and chemistries found across native plant species reflects deep rooted adaptations to dynamic and ever changing environments. Collectively, this vast diversity provides a powerful hedge against a wildly uncertain future. In a world that feels increasingly off its moorings, gardening in reciprocity with biodiversity grounds us and offers an opportunity to reconnect with life sustaining purpose
The richly diverse palette of shapes, colors, lifestyles, and chemistries found across native plant species reflects deep-rooted adaptations to dynamic and ever-changing environments. Collectively, this vast diversity provides a powerful hedge against a wildly uncertain future.
In a world that feels increasingly off its moorings, gardening in reciprocity with biodiversity grounds us and offers an opportunity to reconnect with life-sustaining purpose and meaning. This guide describes the many dimensions of diversity and suggests ways to return the brilliance of biodiversity to your landscape, one seed at a time.
What’s Inside:
- Profiles of 57 native plant species and six biodiverse communities
- Guidance on plant mixtures that build complementarity and redundancy on your landscape
- Contributed essays on fluidity, adaptability, and community as forms of resilience
