Scientific Name
Philodendron tatei (Tate's tree-hugger) var. 'Rojo Congo' (Red Congo)

Common Names
Rojo Philodendron, Rojo Congo, Red Congo

Origin
Tropical areas of South/Central America

Description
The Rojo Congo's leaves start off a deep red, giving it its name, then mature to a dark green whilst retaining red stems in the centre, creating a contrast in colour to enhance your plant displays or decor. A hybrid variety, Rojo Congo would not be found in the wild but its Philodendron tatei and Imperial Red ancestors are used to the tropical rainforest, so keep that in mind when deciding where to keep your plant! This variety of Philodendron also grows upright, rather than climbing or creeping as many do; it will be quite happy to sit in a pot on your shelf or sideboard without growing too far over the edges.

Light

Place in moderate to bright indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as this can scorch the leaves.

Water
Allow the top two inches of soil to dry out in between waterings (these plants are easy-going so if you wait a little longer to water don't panic!). Ensure good drainage and don't allow to sit in water.

Humidity
Appreciates above average humidity, but will do just fine in most standard household humidity. Will appreciate an occasional misting, especially if in a dryer spot.

Soil
Use a chunky, well draining mix.

Food
Will benefit from a light feed throughout spring and summer.

Temperature

Average household temperatures of about 18-28° are fine- try not to place somewhere where temperatures dip below 12°C for extended periods.

Pet-safe
No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
Water with tepid rather than cold water to avoid shocking the plant. Rotate it now and then to promote even growth. Avoid draughty spots.

    Our dog loved the flavor
Size: 0.18 Ounce (Pack of 25)
Our dog has loved any of the Dingo branded dog treats that we’ve gotten her. At this point, I pretty much just grab whatever is offering the most value when we’re in need of treats. I like to keep a couple different varieties on hand, because 30 or 50 chews of the same variety tend to get a little boring for her. This was our first time getting this particular flavor, and while I do confirm our pup loved the flavor...I was a little disappointed at how little substance there were to these treats. I’d buy them again, but I’ll be going to these sparingly, just to offer a little variety now and then. When considering Dingo treats, I would definitely look for options with a resealable bag (as these have), as they tend to stay fresh a lot longer if the bag is sealed up (obviously!) Overall, I’d recommend these to other dog owners. As I would with pretty much all Dingo branded treats. They’re quality, affordable treats. And dogs love them! ******************************* I rely heavily on reviews when I make purchases so I put some time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon for personal or business use so I can help other people considering that item. A winner with our GSD. He’s not a super aggressive chewer but it has still held up and is a favorite.

    Terrific toy for heavy chewers
    Size: 6 in, Color: Blue
My dog loves this! Chews and plays with it constantly. These will last a long time, however, eventually they begin to break down. THEN GET ANOTHER, lasted a couple months with constant chewing.

    My dog doesn't like it
    Size: 5 in, Color: Orange
My dog wasn't a fan of this at all. He was curious about it, probably because he could smell it, but he wasn't sure about chewing it. It could be because his teeth squeak against it? Or maybe it has an odd texture? I don't know But this has sat in the toy bin untouched since the day we got it
