Introducing the Dyckia Nickel Silver, which is a stunning succulent plant that belongs to the Dyckia bromeliad genus. This plant is highly drought-tolerant, making it an ideal choice for low-water gardens or xeriscape applications.
Native to Brazil, Dyckia Nickel Silver typically forms a rosette of spiky leaves that can grow up to 12 inches tall and 18 inches wide.
The leaves are stiff, narrow, and covered in tiny silver scales, giving them a striking metallic appearance.
The plant grows slowly and, under optimal conditions, can last approximately 10 years.
The flowers of this Dyckia plant blooms during themed to late spring, produces tall flower stalks that emerge from the center of the rosette.
The tubular flowers are typically bright yellow or orange, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

It's ideal for a'spiller' in a'spiller-thriller-filler' container combination but may require more frequent waterings in outdoor containers and baskets compared to its yard or garden counterpart.
When growing indoors, the Dyckia plant prefers temperatures between 55 to 70°F. For outdoor cultivation, it is best suited for USDA zones 8 to 11. In colder regions, it is recommended to grow it as a houseplant or in containers that can be brought indoors during the winter.
Overall, the Nickel Silver Dyckia is an evergreen perennial with a medium texture that blends well into gardens. It is low maintenance and should be pruned only to remove dieback. It attracts hummingbirds but is not particularly attractive to deer. It can be balanced with finer or coarser plants for an effective composition.
