Tylecodon schaeferianus 'Dragon Eggs' is a unique and fascinating succulent native to South Africa, known for its distinct, bulbous appearance and striking foliage. The plant features thick, oval-shaped leaves that grow in clusters at the tips of stout, grayish stems. As it matures, the plant's leaves often develop a reddish or purplish tint, particularly when exposed to bright sunlight, adding to its dramatic look. The name "Dragon Eggs" comes from the rounded, egg-like shape of the leaves, which resemble dragon eggs nestled atop the stems. In late winter or early spring, Tylecodon schaeferianus 'Dragon Eggs' produces small, tubular, pale pink or yellow flowers, further enhancing its exotic appeal. A slow-growing plant, it thrives in well-draining soil and requires minimal watering, making it ideal for xeriscaping or container gardening. Tylecodon schaeferianus 'Dragon Eggs' prefers full sun and is drought-tolerant, though it should be protected from frost. Its striking, otherworldly appearance and low-maintenance nature make it a prized addition to any succulent collection.
