Tropical Timber Bamboo – Bambusa vulgaris
Tropical Timber Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) is one of the largest and most widely recognized clumping bamboo species in the world. Known for its tall green canes and strong upright growth, this bamboo creates an impressive tropical presence in the landscape.
This variety grows into a large clumping grove and is often used for tall privacy screens, windbreaks, and large landscape plantings. The thick green culms and lush foliage create a dense canopy that provides shade, movement, and a dramatic architectural element.
Like all bamboo we offer, Tropical Timber Bamboo grows in a clumping growth pattern. It expands gradually from the base rather than spreading aggressively through underground runners, making it manageable for large residential landscapes and tropical garden designs.
Best Uses
- Large privacy screens and windbreaks
- Tropical landscape focal points
- Timber bamboo groves
- Large property borders and natural barriers
Plant several together to create a dramatic bamboo grove that adds height, shade, and tropical character to the landscape.
