The Anthurium pentaphyllum 'Costa Rica' is a distinctive and relatively rare occurrence within the genus. This form is characterized by its gracefully hand-shaped (digitally divided) leaves and climbing growth form. It thus differs greatly from the typical 'velvet anthuriums' and is especially popular among lovers of botanical species and natural, less cultivated plant forms.

Origin

The species Anthurium pentaphyllum is widespread in Central and South America, including in Costa Rica, where this selected form originates. In the wild, it grows as a climbing plant along trees and shrubs in tropical rain forests, usually in shady, moist areas. Unlike many other species within the genus, it grows pentaphyllum with a more liana-like habit, hooking into its surroundings with aerial roots.

Characteristics

The leaves consist of five (sometimes three or seven) separate partial leaves that spring from a central petiole, similar to fingers on a hand. This digitally divided form is rare within the genus and gives the plant a distinctly tropical, airy appearance. The partial leaves are oblong, leathery and fresh green in color, with a slightly glossy surface. Older plants can climb up quickly with support, with aerial roots developing regularly along the stem. In bloom, the plant forms an inconspicuous inflorescence consisting of a slender spike with a narrow green bract.

Care

Light

Place the plant in bright, indirect light. Semi-shade is well tolerated, but adequate light promotes leaf development and compact growth.

Temperature

18-28 °C is ideal. Avoid cold snap and prolonged exposure to temperatures below 15 °C.

Substrate

Use an airy, rich substrate that drains well, such as a mix of bark, coconut chips, perlite and leaf compost. The plant benefits from a loose structure that allows air to pass through to the roots.

Humidity

A humidity of 60-80% is recommended. If the environment is too dry, the leaf edges may dry out, especially on young leaves. Suitable for greenhouse setups or rooms with humidification.

Nutrition

Give diluted aroids fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Over-fertilization is not necessary; this species is a moderate grower.

Watering

Allow the substrate to partially dry out between waterings. Preferably give demineralized water and avoid leaving the roots wet for long periods of time.

Flowering

Flowering is botanically interesting, but not the main focus of the plant. The inflorescence consists of a narrow cob with an elongated green bract. In older specimens, flowering may occur several times a year.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger
