Eight thousand years of civilization in a single seed.

Olea europaea, the Common Olive, is the tree that shaped Mediterranean civilization more than any other single plant. Its oil fueled lamps, preserved food, anointed kings, and provided one of the most complete human foods available from any single plant source. Its cultivation drove the economies of ancient Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, and the modern Mediterranean for over 8,000 years without interruption. It is also one of the most ornamentally beautiful trees available in warm climates, with silver-gray foliage that shimmers in Mediterranean light, a gnarled trunk that develops extraordinary character with age, and a presence in the landscape that no other evergreen tree matches for timeless elegance. If you are looking to buy Olive tree seeds or grow olives from seed, you are planting the tree that launched more ships, funded more wars, and fed more civilizations than almost any other plant in history.

  • One of the most ancient and historically significant cultivated plants in human civilization, grown for over 8,000 years
  • Silver-gray foliage shimmering in sun, among the most visually distinctive evergreen trees in warm-climate horticulture
  • Gnarled, sculptural trunk developing extraordinary character in old specimens
  • Produces fruit for oil and table olives, one of the most nutritionally complete tree crops available
  • Extremely drought-tolerant and long-lived, with documented specimens over 2,000 years old still producing fruit

Things you probably did not know about the Olive Tree

Some olive trees currently fruiting in the Mediterranean are over 2,000 years old. Olive trees in Crete, Greece, and the Levant have been dated by radiocarbon analysis and historical records to well over 2,000 years. The Olive Tree of Vouves in Crete is estimated to be between 2,000 and 4,000 years old and still produces olives that are harvested and sold. It was producing fruit when Julius Caesar was alive and has continued without interruption since.

The olive branch became a universal symbol of peace because of a single story. The olive branch as a symbol of peace and reconciliation traces back to the story of Noah's dove returning with an olive branch to indicate that the floodwaters had receded and land was habitable again. This single narrative, preserved across Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions, gave the olive branch a symbolic weight that has persisted for millennia across every culture that encountered it.

Ancient Athens was named for Athena because of an olive tree. According to Greek mythology, the city that became Athens was awarded to the goddess Athena rather than Poseidon in a divine competition because Athena's gift of the olive tree was judged more useful to humanity than Poseidon's gift of saltwater spring. The olive groves on the slopes of the Acropolis were considered sacred to Athena and their destruction was a serious crime under Athenian law.

Olive oil has been found in containers sealed for 3,500 years. Archaeological digs at Bronze Age sites in the Aegean have found sealed amphorae containing olive oil that remained recognizable as oil after 3,500 years, a testament to the extraordinary stability of oleic acid. The trade in olive oil was one of the primary drivers of Bronze Age Mediterranean commerce and the amphorae used to transport it have been recovered from shipwrecks across the entire sea.

It's awesome for a budget product!
Size: 27Inch
I originally got a name brand widescreen monitor, but it was so ridiculously heavy that I returned it the same day it was delivered. I was back in the market for another one, but I figured it would be better to just go for a more budget option. I'm glad I did; this CRUA monitor is lighter in weight (so I don't have any fears that my motorized standing desk will collapse). The clarity on the screen is not the highest of high quality, but I didn't need that. I mostly use this when I work from home and need more screen space to work on multiple programs/files at once. The playback of videos and movies is pretty passable - you're not going to get the highest, pore-defining clarity with this, but again - it's a budget option so don't expect that. The only minor negative I have with this is that there are not enough ports, so you can't connect a USB mouse, earphones, or webcam to this, but I got an extender so it's fine. I was able to balance an external USB webcam on the top of this monitor. You cannot adjust the screen height, but adjusting the angle is possible. Haven't had any issues connecting the display to my work laptop via HDMI. The speakers - when I use them - are pretty good for the price.

Good Monitors, Limited Hook Up Functionality
Size: 27Inch
Good monitors. Crisp, clear, and responsive. Only issue is they didn’t see to be high enough quality to connect to our new HP docking station so we could connect the two monitors to our laptop. The screens constantly flashed so we had to return the HP docking station and buy some sort of hundred dollar apparatus from Best Buy in order to support the dual monitor display. They also couldn’t be “recognized” by my work laptop for whatever reason which was really unfortunate because I’m now unable to work downstairs in our new office with these monitors.

Very good looking monitor, I can handle two laptops
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
This has worked fantastic for me. This doesn't have all the huge bells and whistles but right now I have two laptops hooked up to it I'm using a display port when using the USBC, and I have a whole bunch of other things plugged into both laptop USB chords like cameras Bluetooth adapters chargers memory and a mouse and amazingly I can use them both seamlessly I can switch to monitor between inputs and then my mouse and keyboard will work with whichever computer I'm using at the time. In fact just the other day I accidentally have had a window open from one laptop that took up half the screen and then I had the other laptop open with another with the other window and it was kind of slow but it still managed to work pretty well with that one extra window from one laptop and then the other two and the mouse would seamlessly move between them keyboard worked in both of them. This is been a good investment

Perfect office/work USBC monitor with (finally) enough USB ports for your mouse, keyboard, webcam.
Style: 34" WQHD Curved 100Hz USB-C Docking
This is an office monitor NOT a gaming monitor. If you understand that you will be very happy. I spent absolute ages looking for a USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ultrawide monitor for work that has a built in USB hub. There is nothing more convenient than just plugging a laptop into a USB-C and getting power and all peripherals connected. Gamers will tell you to get a KVM and dock and all kinds of other stuff and they're not wrong but when you're working a 9-5 in tech simplicity and convenience are king. There are a lot of good options for ultrawides from LG and other brands that do this, but for some insane reason they only have two USB ports in their built-in hub. I need ports for my mouse, keyboard, webcam, potentially usb dongle headset. Need 4 ports. This is literally the only option with more than 2 ports for under $800. And it's waaay under $800. And it's great. It has auto dimming which is wonderful and the stronger curve of the monitor is fantastic for being a medium distance away. The 100hz is just icing . Is it as good as 144hz? nah. But for productivity work it's really really good. Everything you need and then some. It has kind of adjustable height with the stand. You can choose between three heights. So no adjustment on the fly. But that's alright. So - if you're looking for the best USBC monitor to connect all your stuff to so you can just plug in your work laptop for a budget.. This is it. The negative reviews here so far are people looking for a gaming monitor or someone who doesn't know how to adjust their operating system scaling.
