Beccariophoenix alfredii occurs in the High Plateau of Madagascar at approximately 20 degrees south. The palm is found at an elevation of 1,050 meters (3,440 feet) growing along the sandy riverbeds. The surrounding vegetation is mainly composed of various grasses, and the area sees occasional fires. Due to the environment that B. alfredii is subjected to, it is hardy against frost and cold, fire, drought, full sun, and possibly hurricanes. This recently discovered, new Beccariophoenix originates in a humid valley west of Antsirabe on the high plateau of Madagascar, at an elevation of abt. 1000 m, where the temperatures are comparatively cool throughout the year and can drop below freezing at night in winter, making it ideal for warm temperate areas with no more than moderate freezes. The plant is quite distinct from Beccariophoenix madagascariensis. Beccariophoenix alfredii is a fairly large palm quite similar to a coconut palm and a perfect replacement for that in cooler climates where the coconut can not survive the winters. One of the best new introductions from Madagascar. Very popular and sought after because of its better cold tolerance. Due to its overall hardiness, B. alfredii is a good candidate for cultivation in central and southern Florida, California and also locations such as Sydney Australia, Southern Spain, Portugal and Northern New Zealand. Love the Timex Ironman Shock watches!!

I really like the Timex Ironman Shock watches. They are very durable and reliable. Simple to use and modeled after the. Original Ironman watches of the late 80s and 90s.
Buttons are clearly marked and easy to press.
They used to make many colors of this Shock model of the watch inc a cool shiny red color my wife still has .
I have been a runner many many years and at 65, am still out although a lot slower than my 20s. But Timex Ironman watches have. Been my constant companion on the roads and track for 35 years now.

Solid Watch 2 Months In TLDR, would buy again
Color: Black/Black/Digital
Solid watch so far with a readable face and a comfortable strap. My previous watch was a G-shock DW5600. I chose this for the lap feature and generally liked the appearance.
Things I didn’t love:
1) the chronograph displays the mode at the top. I know what mode it’s in, it would be better to have the actual time.
2) this has dual time zones, it’s apparently easy to flip to the second time zone without realizing. I have mine set to US eastern and US central (a one hour difference which begs the question why, and I hear you). But I almost missed 2 events not realizing my wristwatch had jumped back an hour while playing with my kids in the park.
3) I’m still playing with the count down timer function. I messed something up on my first run, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Just something didn’t work intuitively.
4) I didn’t realize how often I had used the indigo equivalent feature on my Gshock as a flash light in low light situations. With the black face this isn’t an option on this watch (I’d still make this trade for the aesthetic).
I would buy again just for something fresh after 5+ years with the G-Shock and the lap feature. Probably a little hyper critical focused on the short comings. Water resistance has been tested an no issues after two months.
