Overview

Use Coconut Coir as an organic growing medium and soil amendment for your garden and potted plants. It conserves water, improves soil structure, and helps plants retain nutrients for longer. By using coir in your garden your plants will develop stronger root systems, and become more resistant to disease and weeds.

Features & Benefits:

  • Natural renewable soil amendment
  • Fresh water rinsed to ensure no excess salts
  • Moistened coir expands to approximately 16-20 gallons
  • High water holding capacity – holds up to 10 times its volume in water
  • Retains and releases nutrients over an extended period of time
  • Soil conditioner for sandy or clay soils
  • Replaces peat moss, rock wool, and perlite

What is Coconut Coir?

Coir is a natural by-product of coconut harvesting. It consists of the coarse fibers extracted from the husks of coconut shells, a renewable resource. Coconut coir is screened, washed and graded for premium horticultural use.

How To Use:

Coconut Coir is dehydrated for easy handling and storage. Adding water causes the coir to expand in size. Soak coir in water for 1 hour before using. It expands to 16-20 gallons.

Growing Medium

To use coconut coir as a growing medium, mix with topsoil and add compost to provide organic nutrients. For garden beds, add one part coir to two parts topsoil. For containers and potted plants, add one part coir to two parts soil or potting mix.

Seed Starting

Coir is great for starting seeds and cuttings because it maintains a consistent level of moisture and it is naturally weed free and disease resistant.

Soil Amendment

When used in sandy soils, coir helps keep nutrients and moisture close to roots instead of leaching away. When used in clay soils, coir breaks up hard compacted soil, so nutrients and moisture move through the soil.

Composting

Coir fiber is carbon-rich and used to balance nitrogen-rich materials such as kitchen scraps and grass clippings in the compost pile. Add two parts coir to one part green organic material. Use 1:1 ratio when mixing with brown organic material.

Coir is used as bedding material for worm compost bins. It controls moisture and improves the quality of worm castings, which go into your garden.

Lovely subtle shine, wonderful scent
Scent: Sandalwood
LOVE this shimmer oil. Has a lovely subtle copper/rose gold when used lightly. The shimmer gets more pronounced the more you use, but never obnoxious. The oil absorbs well and fully on damp skin, but I usually use it before going out for the day on dry skin, and it works just as well. The nozzle produces a generous amount with each squirt and has yet to clog or stop up as with some shimmer oils. The oil leaves the skin moisturized and glowy. The shimmer does not rub off easily on clothing and other fabrics. The scent is just amazing. If you have the regular oil, this smells just as amazing. It’s hard to describe…a gorgeous floral smell, but not grandma’s lilly or lavender smell. Just sexy. If sexy and summer, and feminine had a smell, this would be it. Yummy and inherently woman. Get this oil for some shimmer and a splash of confidence.

I absolutely love the Saltair line of products!
Scent: Sandalwood
I used the body wash at a friend's house and fell in love, especially with the Santal Bloom scent! This body oil is just so amazing and feels so silky and soft. It's especially effective if you use it right out of the shower. It adds a beautiful glow and I even use a little in my hair. It's quite concentrated so a little goes a long way. I have even mixed it into my favorite coconut oil and it mixes beautifully. Don't sleep on this line!

Smells great
Scent: Golden Hour
Love this, my favorite scent from this line. Very subtle glitter so I still feel age appropriate. It’s an oil soy skin does feel oily for a little bit afterwards until it soaks in. It has lasted me quite awhile so I do feel it’s good value for the money. Have reordered a few times.

Great Glow and Scent, But Fades Quickly and Runs Out Fast
Scent: Vanilla
The Saltair Shimmering Body Oil in Salt Water Vanilla is a beautiful product. The only 3 reasons I don’t give it 5 stars are because: 1. The shimmer is not very long-lasting. When I apply it before bed, most of the shimmer effect is completely gone and absorbed by my sheets by the morning. I assume pants and leggings would absorb it in the same way, but I’ve only ever worn shorts after applications during the day, and even then, the shimmer seems to fade after 4–6 hours. 2. I have to apply a lot of oil to achieve the amount of shimmer I desire. It averages about 20–25 pumps per use. 3. The 4-ounce bottle size, combined with needing a lot of product for each application, means I’m going to run out of it pretty quickly. Here’s why I like this product: 1. The glow: If you’re looking for a subtle glow and a light shimmer effect, this oil is perfect for you; apply it before a night out, while wearing a swimsuit, or when going to the gym in your favorite workout set for a beautiful gleam. 2. The scent: It’s a divine, warm mix of sweet and spicy notes. It smells like vanilla, amber, and toasted marshmallow. It pairs really nicely with tropical, woodsy, sweet, or spicy perfumes—it’s very versatile. 3. Consistency and absorption: The oil absorbs nicely and has a light, runny consistency. Because it’s a dry oil, it isn’t too thick, nor does it leave a sticky feeling on the skin. 4. How my skin feels: I’ve used this oil 4 nights in a row, and every single morning I wake up, my skin feels so soft and smooth, with no residual stickiness or residue left behind.
