The ultimate houseplant for beginners, the ZZ plant is as close to indestructible as it gets. With its waxy, deep-green leaves and sculptural form, it brings a polished, modern look to any space while asking for almost nothing in return.
Origins
Zamioculcas zamiifolia is native to the dry grasslands and forests of eastern Africa, from Kenya south to South Africa.
Soil and Substrate
ZZ plants store water in their thick, potato-like rhizomes and are highly susceptible to root rot in wet conditions. Our Simply Cacti and Succulent Mix is a peat-free cacti and succulent substrate that provides the sharp drainage this species needs.
