Compadre Zoysia grass is an improved hybrid seeded Zoysia grass that is the result of a two parent cross of Zoysia japonica selections made by the late Jack Murray at the USDA turfgrass station in Beltsville, Maryland. Compadre Zoysia grass has good color, texture and density which compares favorably with vegetative varieties at a much lower cost. The name Compadre Zoysia was chosen to reflect that the variety may be paired with a cool season grass such as a turf-type tall fescue to create a year round green lawn.

Compadre Zoysia grass is widely adapted and will flourish in the temperate zone, from the northern transition zone of the U.S. south, into the tropical zones, and in similar climates around the world. Compadre Zoysia grass can be grown in all types of soil textures ranging from sands to clays. It is tolerant to a range of pH from acidic to alkaline. Compadre Zoysia is very drought tolerant. Under drought conditions, it may turn a straw color; however it has the ability to recuperate with subsequent irrigation or rainfall. Compadre has shown excellent resistance to Large Brown Patch which can occasionally damage turf.

Compadre requires lower maintenance with natural weed suppression and lower fertilizer and water requirements. It can be maintained at variable mowing heights depending on use, from 1 inch to 2.5 inches (2.5 cm to 6 cm). With increased maintenance and care, Compadre may be mowed at 0.5 inches (1.25 cm). ~~~

Compadre Zoysia can be planted at 1-3lbs per 1,000 sq.ft. for new seedings and 1lb per 1,000sq.ft. for overseeding applications. This grass needs to be at a depth of 1/8 inch and planted in the Springtime when your nighttime temperatures are consistently above 65 degrees. The seed will also need to be watered daily until established for optimal growth.

Short Story Collection
Format: Paperback
This wasn't quite what I expected. It's a random selection of writers and illustrators all doing short stories that are just a few pages long. It gives you a deep appreciation for some of the talent many of these guys have and gives you many different perspectives on batman. Having said that, I have to be honest. Some of the illustrations were sub-par and some of the stories mediocre. A couple of the stories left me wondering if some of these guys had written batman anything before and others whether they were able to earn a living with their drawings. Despite that, there were many really good stories in here that are worth reading.

Like chocolate truffles
Format: Paperback
First off, this is a review of volume 1. I got several Batman graphic novels recently and get one out when I have a block of uninterrupted time for it. I thought that given the short-story format, that I'd leave this in the car and read one or two stories when I had a few minutes to kill. Sure - that's what I say when I get a box of candy too - just one or two at a time - make the box last for a month. LOL - I got going and finished the whole book in one sitting. The short stories are not all great, but even the weakest is worth at least three stars. Some of the others are wonderful. The most unexpected were the best: "A Black and White World" a Neil Gaiman story which features Batman and Joker in a way you've never seen them before, and "A Slaying Song Tonight" a Batman Christmas story.... who'd ever think of that? The art is varied - which is the point isn't it. Some I liked a great deal and others didn't move me, but each reader will have different tastes. I learned about some artists with which I wasn't familiar. I'm new to comics and graphic novels, so this was a great way to gain some exposure to some legends. A previous reviewer seemed to feel the black and white art limited the artists. I thought the short story format and the black and white art boiled the work down to it's most powerful essence. The stories didn't waste a word. The art didn't hide behind color. It was like each story was stripped down to the bare essentials. And no comic character is more natural for a black and white treatment than the Bat. It was like a film noir movie marathon! Volume One at the very least is a must-own part of any Batman collection. Highest recommendation!

Perfection From Start to Finish
Format: Paperback
Where do I start? Whats not to love about some the of the best writers and artists coming together in one book full of short Batman stories done in black and white? The story telling is unbelievable and the illustrations are so good you barely notice they aren't in color. This should be in every Batman fan's collection :)

a great series of comics
Format: Kindle
This is the first in a great series of short stories by different authors and artists. The quality ranges but it's nice to have the variety. It makes for a well rounded Batman book.
