Phoenix Roebelenii Pygmy Date Palm Tree

The Pygmy Date palm is endemic to Southeast Asia. It’s a slow growing palm up to only about 10 feet tall. 

Phoenix Roebelenii is easy, problem free and tolerates many soils. It’s moderately drought tolerant, and can be grown in partial shade to full sun making it one of the most widely used palms in the south and a favorite in Florida. This palm loves a subtropical environment but can briefly tolerate temperatures down to about 20f. For those in northern climates, the Pygmy Date palm is easily and happily grown in containers that can be moved into protection on colder winter nights.

A beautiful, easy-care, extremely versatile palm that works almost anywhere in full sun or semi shady areas as an accent in the landscape or by the pool in a large container. Though it’s a solitary palm, when planted in clumps, the trunks tend to curve gracefully away from the center of the clump creating an especially attractive arrangement.
