Light
▾Aparajita loves the sun. For maximum blooms, provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. While it can grow in partial shade, the flowering will be less prolific. If growing in extreme Indian summers, afternoon filtered shade is beneficial.
Watering
▾Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination phase. Once established, the vine is moderately drought-tolerant but thrives with regular watering. Always water at the base to keep the foliage dry and prevent fungal issues.
Soil & Sowing
▾Sow seeds about 0.5 to 1 inch deep in well-draining soil. A mix of garden soil, compost, and sand is ideal. Space seeds at least 6 inches apart. Germination typically occurs within 7–14 days in warm weather.
Feeding & Fertilization
▾Being a legume, Aparajita fixes its own nitrogen, so it doesn't need heavy chemical fertilizers. Feed with a handful of organic compost or seaweed extract once a month to support continuous blooming during the growing season.
Pruning & Training
▾Since this is a climber, provide a trellis or string support early on. Pinch off the growing tips when the plant is 6 inches tall to encourage branching. Prune back heavily in late winter to refresh the vine for the next season.
Seeds Not Germinating
▾Often due to cold soil or insufficient pre-soaking. Ensure the soil is warm (25°C+) and that you haven't buried the seeds too deep. Keep the soil moist, not soggy.
Seedlings Falling Over (Damping Off)
▾Caused by excessive moisture and poor airflow. Ensure the pot has drainage and don't overwater young sprouts. Use a sterilized seed-starting mix if possible.
