The most spectacular flowering tree in the world. For those who live where it can thrive.

Jacaranda mimosifolia, the Blue Jacaranda, is considered by many horticulturists and travelers to be the most spectacular flowering tree on Earth. In late spring, before a single leaf has opened, it covers itself in dense masses of tubular lavender-blue flowers that last for weeks, creating a display of color so saturating and so pervasive that streets lined with them in South Africa, Australia, and California become destinations for people who travel specifically to see them bloom. The feathery, fern-like compound leaves that follow are beautiful in their own right. If you are looking to buy Jacaranda seeds or grow Blue Jacaranda from seed, this is the tree that turns a warm-climate garden into something people remember.

  • Masses of lavender-blue tubular flowers covering the entire canopy before leaves emerge in late spring
  • Delicate, fern-like compound leaves providing lacy, filtered shade through summer
  • One of the most recognizable and celebrated flowering trees in warm-climate horticulture worldwide
  • Fast-growing in warm climates, reaching flowering size in 7 to 10 years from seed
  • Seed-grown trees take longer to bloom than grafted nursery trees but develop stronger root systems

Things you probably did not know about the Blue Jacaranda

Pretoria, South Africa is called the Jacaranda City. Over 70,000 Jacaranda trees line the streets of Pretoria, South Africa, and when they bloom in October the entire city turns violet-blue. The blooming of the Jacarandas marks the beginning of exam season at the University of Pretoria, giving rise to a student tradition that if a Jacaranda flower falls on your head, you will pass your exams without studying. The trees are not native to Africa but have been so thoroughly adopted that they define the city's identity.

The flowers fall as a carpet rather than gradually. Jacaranda flowers drop en masse when they finish, creating a blue-purple carpet on the ground beneath the tree that is often described as more beautiful than the tree itself. The carpet of fallen flowers can persist for days in calm conditions, creating a double display of living flowers above and fallen flowers below simultaneously.

The wood is used for musical instruments in its native South America. Jacaranda wood is dense, fine-grained, and produces excellent acoustic properties when used for guitar backs, sides, and fingerboards. Brazilian Rosewood, one of the most prized tonewoods in the world, is actually a Jacaranda species, Jacaranda mimosifolia's relative Dalbergia nigra. The acoustic properties of Jacaranda wood have been appreciated by instrument makers for centuries.

It can be grown as a container plant in cold climates. In zones colder than 9, Blue Jacaranda can be grown in large containers, moved indoors in winter, and brought outside in summer. Container-grown specimens rarely reach full size but can flower and provide the distinctive foliage texture in climates where outdoor planting is not possible. Many enthusiasts in zones 7 and 8 manage Jacaranda as a large patio plant with winter protection.

Love love it
Color: Blue
Best dog toy ever. I have a 1 year old boxer who is full of energy (understatement). This ball has provided more entertainment for us both than any dog toy I’ve ever purchased. Charge holds well and has a very resilient shell. I love it. Worth the price.

Great ball for limited entertainment. Replaceable outer shell is an amazing option!
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
Bought this for our 45lb, ball-obsessed Dutch shepherd/pit bull dog mix. I had one of these years ago with the hard shell and couldn’t be happier with the new foam shell. The new foam shell is much quieter and while our dog might put holes in it with his teeth, he doesn’t seem to ever pull pieces off. For engagement level, he found it VERY interesting at first and was scared to grab it, but once he got over that he started holding it in his mouth even when it shakes and just tries to keep it. Isn’t the best for fetch or anything as he has trouble letting it go when it is actively moving, but it makes him happy while he has it. We just make sure to monitor him while it is out. The ability to change the outer shell and just buy a replacement for the shell instead of a whole new toy is a lovely feature that makes me very happy to continue buying from this company.

Great Interactive Option
Color: Blue
To start, I have been very happy with this purchase. A couple of key points for me are durability and being able to keep my dog's attention. I have had it for almost a year, just a month shy, and she hasn't managed to get through the foam outer shell even though she tries real hard to do so. Let's just say, she's hard to find toys for because of her habit of finding the point of failure where she can pick and gnaw at until the toy is no longer safe for her to have. With this toy, she not only found her match, but it also has her watching, waiting, and even stalking. Only one small issue has recently occurred: the motor has started having an issue where the charge doesn't hold, and it doesn't remain on afterwards. I have reached out to Cheerble directly to see about replacing it since I am still within their 12-month timeframe, and they responded right away.

Quality product for the right dog...
Color: Orange
Honestly it's a really cool product well constructed and moves around on its own with several different modes. The design id brilliant with a tough rubber ball that unscrew to expose the element that makes it move in the middle. The dog won't be able to unscrew it but you can if you ever need to replace the ball for any reason but it would take some work for a dog to destroy the outer ball. Almost like "Kong" type material. The ball is about the size of a softball and the element inside is about the size of a golf ball. I thought my dog would love this but she was afraid of it, which is strange because she's afraid of nothing. Anyways I gave it to my neighbor upstairs and she has a yorkshire terrier who plays with it all the time so it all worked out great. Quality product . Good job!

Thought it was a good idea but not for my dog
Color: Blue
Seemed great but my dog continued to bark at it. Finally she hid it and I haven’t looked for it.
