Dregei begonia goes with the common name dwarf wild begonia, maple-leaved begonia, and grape-leaf begonia. An incredible option for indoor plantation, Begonia dregei bonsai originates in South Africa. A part of the Begoniaceae family, the plant has a swollen base or caudex. The characteristic green begonia maple leaves are small with sharp tips creating dense foliage. Winter-dormant Begonia dregei caudex is covered with white flowers during the blooming season that starts from Spring and continues till fall. This plant in its natural habitat grows to a height of 19-39 inches and between 8 to 10 inches as a bonsai. It can grow vertically upright or sprawl in bright filtered sun exposure.

Growth Rate
The maple leaf begonia bonsai is a slow-growing houseplant.

Flowering
The plant blooms white flowers during the blooming season, beginning Spring till fall.

Watering and Feeding
The soil should be saturated well when watering the wild begonia plant. Between waterings, the soil should be dry. Abstain from overwatering. An important Begonia dregei care tip is to use clay pots. Use a balanced fertilizer during the growing season.

Soil
Another essential fact about maple leaf begonia care is using the right soil mix. A well-drained, acidic, humus-rich soil is best. The ideal types are sandy, clay, and loamy soils.

Hardiness
Begonia wild grows well in the hardiness zone of 10. Wild Begonia species are not frost-hardy.

Light
This plant grows happily when exposed to bright filtered light.

Propagation
Tip cuttings of new shoots are ideal for propagation.

Wild begonia images look undeniably pretty. Instead of hanging a picture in your living room, you can order an elegant live variety of Begonia dregei for sale from Planet Desert.

Bright and way cooler than standard whip lights!!
I got these for our Jeep as a cool accessory. We installed them and wow are they bright!!! Out on the trails at night it looks like there are two towers of light following the jeep, it is neat. They install easily and include everything needed for the installation. All the hardware is well built and sealed to last in the conditions that you would expect these to be used in, hot, dusty, sandy, cold and wet. The housings are all aluminum and sealed from the elements. The connections to the lights are insert and then screw connector to seal, that way the connections don’t get corroded and fail. Everyone we have seen has asked about them and have really been impressed with the brightness of the light and quality of the craftsmanship. The only thing that I would say is a negative is the remote control, it is small and I am afraid I am going to lose it in the Jeep so I can’t imagine how it would be in an open-air vehicle, but there are ways to keep track of it. Because the whip lights are not standard flailing sticks, they do not get caught on branches or have the potential for the sprint to break while out on the trail. I am happy with the purchase even if they were a little expensive, the convenience and attractive looks made a huge difference.

Very cool light without the long whips
Yes, it was tough to change to whipless but it also meant I could benefit from the lighting without huge whips behind me. It’s a personal choice but these worked out great. Highly visible and bright and the install was pretty straightforward and simple. You get everything you need with the kit. They look good and seem to be holding up durability wise very well. Overall, I may not stay with them over time but it won’t be because of quality or function. It’ll be because I want to see the long whips again behind me.
