Fill your garden or outdoor area with the fragrance of lavender by adding this plant to your space! The evergreen foliage has a gorgeous grey-silver tinge to the green, which contrasts well with the white flowers that bloom in tall spires late in summer. English lavender is more cold-hardy than its French and Spanish cousins, and is thought to be more attractive to pollinators. It can grow well both planted out and in containers, so will suit many different outdoor setups. Give this plant plenty of sun and it will thank you with fragrance and beauty- as well as benefiting the wildlife that visits your garden!

Perennial
Shrub- flower spikes, fragrant
Foliage year round, flowers late summer and early autumn.

Scientific Name
Lavandula angustifolia (Wash-flower, narrow leaves) 'Ellagance Ice'

Common Name
Lavender, English Lavender, White Lavender, Snow Lavender

Origin
Native to the Mediterranean

Pruning Tips
Prune in early to mid spring or early autumn, as the flowers die back. Pruning is important to keep the plant healthy and not looking straggly.

Wildlife Value
Supplies nectar for butterflies and nectar-drinking moths; popular with bees and a wide range of other insects too.

Positioning
Full sun is best; the position may be sheltered or exposed but it will grow best when sheltered.

Water
Drought tolerant; should only need watering if it's been extremely dry. Keep a closer eye on the soil moisture if it's in a pot; it may dry out quicker or not drain as well.

Soil
Make sure your soil drains well; lavender will prefer alkaline to neutral soil but can put up with acidic soil if necessary.

Food
In a container, fertilise every couple of weeks; in the ground ensure you add nutrients to the soil in the form of fresh compost or mulch every year or so to keep the soil full of goodness for the plants!

Pet-safe
Yes; no toxic effects have been reported, though it's best for the plant and your pets if they don't nibble too much!

Sprouts Top Tips
If you want to grow in a container, terracotta is a good idea; as a more porous material, it will help your plant to not get too soggy.

Size: X-Large, Color: Cheese
I’m a 70 lbs Goldendoodle (supposed to be 65, don’t ask) and I love cheese. Real cheese. Sharp cheddar with sourdough bread is my dream, but apparently I’m “on a health journey,” so my people bought me this instead. Does this bone actually taste like cheese? No. I am not fooled. Do I still enjoy chewing it loudly while my humans are trying to watch TV? Absolutely yes. This bone satisfies my need to chew and my emotional desire for cheese-adjacent activities. It keeps me busy, saves the furniture, and lets me crunch dramatically during important dialogue scenes. The yellow color is nice — very cheese-coded — although some cheeses are white, so just something to consider for future versions. Also, good news: it doesn’t smell like cheese at all, which my humans seem very grateful for. Apparently they don’t want the carpet to smell like a deli. Weird. Final verdict: Not cheese. Still enjoyable. Would chew again. ~Barley

Terrific toy for puppies!
I love this dog toy! I put treats inside the soft teeth of the toy so that my puppies have to work to get them out. By doing so, they are cleaning their teeth and enjoying a mental challenge at the same time. I love watching them roll the toy across the floor as they try to figure out how to get the treats out. Adorable! And it keeps them occupied for a long time.

Nice, but easily chewed apart.
My dog loves it, but needs supervision because he can bit off bits. He's a small dog with little teeth.

JAYU PET Toothbrush Toy Dog Chew
The JAYU PET Toothbrush Toy Dog Chew is pretty cool. I used my toy poodle’s favorite toothpaste and he had a hard time really getting into the grooves. This seems like a good idea and it’s hit or miss with anything like this. My dog loved it more and tried harder when I used peanut butter. I just end up having to clean o it the grooves as he can’t get to it all. Big breeds might do better, but this is cute and could work.
