From mid to late summer, it produces an impressive display of long, thick, densely packed flower spikes rising well above the foliage, covered in small, tubular, deep violet-blue flowers. The flowers are renowned for their intense, camphor-rich lavender fragrance, making 'Grosso' one of the most popular lavenders for commercial essential oil production, dried buds (culinary or sachets), and cut flowers. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, it also has excellent tolerance for heat, drought, deer, and poor, well-drained soils.
