A ruffled burst of green for your indoor oasis
Asplenium antiquum 'Osaka' | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe
Summary: With its rippled, sword-like fronds, this elegant bird’s nest fern adds tropical texture and lush vibrancy to any European home. Ideal for low-light corners and pet-friendly spaces.
✨ Why You'll Love the Asplenium antiquum 'Osaka'
- Gently wavy fronds create an eye-catching, sculptural form
- Thrives in indirect light—perfect for German apartments and offices
- Air-purifying and non-toxic to pets
- Compact and tidy at ~20 cm height—great for shelves or tabletops
🌞 Light & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates lower-light conditions. Avoid direct sun to prevent leaf scorch. Ideal for bathrooms, bedrooms, or shaded corners.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil lightly moist, watering when the top layer feels dry. Loves humidity—regular misting or placement near a humidifier boosts growth. Avoid watering into the crown to prevent rot.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Plant in a well-draining, airy mix rich in organic matter. Orchid bark or coco coir blends work well. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh soil and encourage growth.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
100% pet-safe—no harmful compounds for cats or dogs. A worry-free green companion for homes with furry friends.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Grows slowly with a tight rosette form. Does not propagate via cuttings; instead, mature plants may produce small offsets or spores for advanced propagation.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Keep warm year-round; protect from cold drafts in winter. Boost humidity in dry seasons. Clean fronds gently with a damp cloth to keep them dust-free and radiant.
🐛 Common Issues
Watch for brown tips from low humidity or crispy leaves from overexposure to sun. Mealybugs or scale can occasionally appear—treat early with neem or insecticidal soap.
🧬 Botanical Background
