Hippeastrum ‘Appleblossom’ is a show-stopping amaryllis with soft white petals edged in gentle pink, reminiscent of springtime blossoms. Each upright stalk holds multiple trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom from late winter into early spring, creating a graceful, elegant display in your garden or containers. Combine its lush, strap-like foliage with the delicate blooms, and you’ve got a timeless classic that brightens any space with charm and sophistication.

Blooms: These bloomers are reliable every spring and bloom along side our other heirloom amaryllis friends. This April-bloomer is a great garden flower that has much variation in the amount of light striping and white in the blooms of the individual bulbs. No matter the final combination, each bulb impressively produces beautiful white flowers with petals that reflex. The blooms will be about 4 inches and create a beautiful display with several crowded together on the top of the stem. The blooms provide a lovely scent for you to enjoy. The scent is describe as lightly floral and fruity.

Foliage: The foliage on this amaryllis is lovely. We love a bulb whose foliage can perform and impress all on its own, especially during hot dry summers. Hippeastrum ‘Emerald’ produces long, strap-like green leaves that grow upright and add structure to your garden or container. The foliage emerges after planting and continues through the growing season, gathering energy for next year’s blooms. It’s hardy and attractive, providing a verdant backdrop to the bold, spidery flowers. This bulb is drought-tolerant, but it will perform better if you water it during a dry summer. This provides a great "hedge" for an area like around a tree. The foliage provides a dark background to showcase small summer flowers like rain lilies or blood lilies or even fall blooms like red or yellow spider lilies or schoolhouse lilies. You can also use it as a foreground plant for tall flowers that may not have great foliage. Or you can even combine these ideas and have multiple layers to your garden that will bloom at different times of the year in the same area. For the foliage alone consider planting it as a centerpiece in your garden. The blooms are an added bonus!

After Blooming: As with most perennial bulbs, do NOT cut down the foliage as long as it is green. The foliage is sending nutrients to the bulb for future blooms. When the foliage dies back and is completely yellow, you can cut it off for the winter. The foliage will stay green for months and may not die back if there is not a harsh winter or in warmer zones.

Cut flowers: These blooms are often used in floral displays and are quite costly so plant several and enjoy them in the garden and then take some indoors as well. You spend a lot of money on these blooms if you were to go buy them individually to make a flower arrangement. Instead, why not just walk out to your garden and cut a couple of stems off? These have a lovely scent to them. Many people describe it as fresh and soft because it seems to be a mixture of floral and fruity.

Care and Planting: Hippeastrum bulbs prefer to be planted in well-drained soil where they will receive at least 8 hours of sunlight every day. You can plant them in full sun even in zones 9 and 10. They look great as a border, around a tree, or as a centerpiece in your garden. Plant the bulbs with just the top of the stem out of the soil. If your bulb has a lot of greenery you will be able to tell where the bulb begins and just barely cover the round bulb portion. Plant these in the ground in zones 8-11. Plant each bulb about 6-8 inches apart to allow a little space for multiplication. You can plant them 4-6 inches apart if you want the area to look more natural quicker.

During the winter, consider mulching over the top especially if you are in zones 7 and 8 just as a little extra protection. Once established, these bulbs multiply quickly.

In Pots: This beauty does great being placed in pots. They are easy to grow in pots and look amazing when you plant one bulb per small pot and set them in clusters, lined up, or set in windowsills. Hippeastrum like to be a little "crowded" so only plant in a pot that allows no more than 1-2 inches around the bulb. Remember to allow the top of the bulb to stick out of the soil when you are planting.

Pots would allow someone in a colder zone to grow this spring-blooming beauty that could then be moved into a protected area during the winter. If you plant them in pots, you will need to water more frequently during the growing season, but make sure that the pot has excellent drainage. In early spring make sure to give it plenty of sunlight.

Pollinators: Bees and butterflies are really drawn to this April bloom.

Great but some shine
Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Style: SPF 100/Lotion, Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 2), Style: SPF 100/Lotion
Sunscreen is a very important part of the skincare routine. Who cares about the results you get from the rest of your routine for your hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, etc if you aren't doing anything to protect it from the UV damage. This sunscreen offers that protection and seems to do it well which is the most important function of a sunscreen. The experience of the sunscreen for me was also positive. The sunscreen comes out white but applies clear which you would expect from an organic sunscreen. It has that stereotypical sunscreen scent but I personally love it and it psychologically ignites nostalgia for the days spent at the beach. It reminds me of the time going to the beach, making sandcastles and eating popsicles as a kid. However, I know some find this unpleasant. For those in this camp, I would not recommend this. Outside of this, however, the feel is a bit greasy at first but goes away after some time. One minor issue I find is that is does have some shine. Some people might like it but I find it is a bit much but not as bad as others on the market. In the photos you can see what it looks like before and after application. You might not be able to tell from the photos but there is some shine. Others will most likely be able to tell that you have something on. One thing I really want to point out is that this is a chemical sunscreen that uses organic UV filters meaning they are carbon containing compounds but that does not make it bad. Clean beauty brands tend to villainize these as they "contain chemicals" or are "toxic" but these claims can be highly disputable. For one, a lot of things are chemicals. Water is a chemical but you wouldn't avoid using products with that in it. Also, a company would not allow the use of actually toxic ingredients in a skincare product. There are clearly banned substances listed by the FDA that will not make their way to your sunscreen and they also protect consumers from large exposure by restricting the quantity an ingredient can be used. The heat produced from chemical sunscreens are also minuscule compared to that of physical (or inorganic) sunscreen. These are just a couple of reasons that chemical sunscreens are very much safe (as far as we know it) according to science. I'm sorry for the small rant. I know that most of the people who see this review are looking at it because they know chemical sunscreens are not the devil as they are looking at this product but I was hoping to dissuade people who adhere to the clean beauty methods from being swept up from the fear-mongering marketing.

good spray, but strong alcohol smell
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I like Alba Botanica, but 3.5 starts since: - the spray goes way too fast (that can be true for all continuous sprays). I used it 4 - 5 times and it seems I have very little left. - lots of waste when spraying... probably is best to spray your palm and then massage it on your body - once it's sprayed it smells like alcohol, alot!!! Other brands I tried don't seem to smell so much of alcohol. - My kid developed strange rash once it was applied, not red dots, but white bumps all over the arms and legs, cannot say its from this spray, but I'm a bit suspicious. The good party it's it is not sticky or greasy. Smells good (after alcohol evaporates). I used it a couple of times, applied once only and stay several hours under the sun and I was fine, no sunburn.
