Philodendron campii 'Lynette'

Philodendron campii 'Lynette' is a rosette-forming Philodendron with long, narrow green leaves rising from a short central stem. The plant forms a rounded shape in the pot, with arching leaves that layer outward as it matures.

The glossy to semi-glossy leaves are usually narrow-oblong to lance-shaped, with a clear midrib and petioles that angle outward from the centre. New growth appears from the middle of the rosette, while older outer leaves gradually age away around the base.

How Philodendron campii 'Lynette' forms its rosette

  • Rosette habit: Short central stem with leaves arranged in a rounded form.
  • Leaves: Long, narrow green blades with a glossy to semi-glossy surface.
  • Pot habit: Self-supporting shape that stays upright without a moss pole.
  • Base care: Needs even moisture, drainage and air around the short stem.

Wet-forest origin of Philodendron campii

Philodendron campii comes from wet tropical forests in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and northern Brazil. Its usually epiphytic, rosulate habit suits an open mix that stays slightly moist without becoming dense around the short stem.

The central growth point should not sit in a wet, compacted mix. A proportionate pot, free drainage and careful watering help protect the base while the narrow leaves continue rising from the middle of the plant.

Caring for the short stem of Philodendron campii 'Lynette'

  • Light: Give bright indirect light; direct midday sun can mark the narrow leaves.
  • Watering: Water when the upper 20–30% of the mix has dried, then let excess water drain fully.
  • Substrate: Use a chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite or pumice, and a moisture-holding organic component.
  • Humidity: Moderate to good humidity helps fresh central leaves expand smoothly.
  • Temperature: Best kept warm, ideally above 18°C, with protection from cold glass, draughts and winter transport stress.
  • Potting: Choose a stable pot with drainage; repot only when roots have clearly filled the current container.
  • Fertilizing: Feed lightly during active growth with a balanced fertiliser at reduced strength.
  • Propagation: Usually propagated from basal shoots or specialist nursery production, not from single leaf cuttings.
  • Pruning: Remove ageing outer leaves close to the base without cutting into the central growth point.
  • Semi-hydroponics: Can adapt to mineral substrates such as pon, pumice, lava or LECA if the short stem stays above the wet zone.
  • Growth rate: Usually moderate indoors, with the rosette widening gradually as new leaves replace older outer growth.

Philodendron campii 'Lynette' problems around the base

  • Yellow outer leaves: One old leaf at a time is normal; several at once usually points to a wet root zone or low light.
  • Soft base: Check the central stem and substrate depth; reduce watering and improve aeration if the base stays damp.
  • Brown leaf tips: Look for irregular watering, dry air near heat sources or mineral-heavy water.
  • Small new leaves: Move the plant closer to bright filtered light and check whether the roots are cramped or staying too wet.
  • Pests: Check the leaf bases and undersides for spider mites, thrips, mealybugs or scale, especially on stressed plants.

Philodendron campii 'Lynette' pet safety

Like other Philodendron, Philodendron campii 'Lynette' contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep it away from pets that bite plants, and wash hands after pruning or removing damaged leaves if your skin is sensitive.

Philodendron campii etymology and publication

The genus name Philodendron comes from Greek roots meaning tree-loving. Philodendron campii was described by Thomas B. Croat in Aroideana in 2004. The epithet campii is a Latinized commemorative name based on the surname Camp.

Order Philodendron campii 'Lynette' for a compact, narrow-leaved rosette Philodendron with a clean upright shape in the pot.

A truly "practical" guide!
Format: Hardcover
Mr. Bernsten wrote this book to share what he has learned both right, wrong and otherwise in his illustrious and decorated career. These kinds of books are not written to make money. They are written for the love of the profession and how to make the entire genre better. The book is "A Practical Guide." It is clear and concise. I am quite sorry that Mr. Steele feels the way he does. Perhaps there is a tinge of jealousy there. Mr.Bernsten had a home run with his work "Jaw Breaker" and his most recent "The Walk-In." Crossing over to write "Human Intelligence.." only shows he loved his work and the agency he worked for. What came out of his career is how to make HUMIT, CT and leadership better.

250K miles on my Corolla and its running like a champ!
Style: Restore & Protect, Size: 5 QT, Configuration: 5W-30
The Valvoline Restore & Protect Full Synthetic 5W-30 has been one of the best motor oils I’ve used in a higher-mileage vehicle. After a few oil changes, the engine felt noticeably smoother and quieter, especially during cold starts. Throttle response improved slightly, and idle became more consistent as well. What really stands out is the cleaning performance. This oil is designed to help remove deposits and prevent future buildup, and it seems to actually deliver. My engine runs cleaner, and oil consumption appears lower compared to some other synthetic oils I’ve tried. It also holds up very well between oil changes without breaking down or getting excessively dark too quickly. The 5-quart jug is convenient, easy to pour, and priced competitively for a full synthetic with advanced additives. If you want a high-quality oil that not only protects your engine but also helps restore performance over time, this is an excellent choice. I’ll definitely continue using it for future oil changes.

It really works. Cleaner, quieter, smoother operation.
Style: Restore & Protect, Size: 5 QT, Configuration: 5W-30
This is the most amazing oil I have ever used. As a previous mechanic and current auto enthusiast, I am very picky about what I use in my vehicle. I tried this on a car I planned on trading in for about a year before getting rid of it and it really made a difference in quieting down the lifters and valve train. Looking internally to the engine I found that this does clean and dissolve varnish internally while also retaining its viscosity. I was impressed by the improvement in how smoothly it made that car run until trading it in. I've been using it in my new to me 20 year old used car I bought which has low mileage and runs great. Using this oil has only made it run better. Quieter, smoother, etc. I have used RP, Mobil 1, Pennzoil, and more. This one is my new number one that I plan on sticking with for the life of my vehicle.

Simply put, it’s a miracle product
Style: Restore & Protect, Size: 5 QT, Configuration: 5W-30
There’s a reason this product won the best consumer product of the year, 40,000 customers voted on this product as the most innovative product of the year for car care. Personally it has stopped my 185,000 mile, 16 year old Subaru EJ253 engine from consuming/burning oil in just 2 3,000 mile interval oil changes. I was previously burning about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles before using the Valvoline restore and protect and it has already done its job and then some. Not only have I stopped consuming oil, I’ve seen roughly a +3mpg increase compared to the times I’ve used and tracked MPG while using Shell Rotella T6 and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum; it doesn’t end there either as I regularly check my engine oil dipstick out of habit because the car used to burn oil and I had to stay on top of the oil level. Upon checking my oil level at 1,000 miles into the second oil change I was shocked to see how clean the Valvoline oil was on the sides of the dipstick, using other oils and checking them at that interval has always had my oil looking quite black and dirty just 1000 miles after a change, this was not the case with the restore and protect; it came out at 1000 miles looking very clean, translucent and not discolored. I can’t recommend this product enough, especially at the price point compared to competitors; I will always have a jug of this stuff in the garage.
