Description & Care:
The starfish snake plant is a great addition to any office or household as a natural air purifier. It is a compact snake plant variety perfect for beginners or travelers because it is a low-maintenance, drought-resistant plant that can survive for a while without water. This particular variety is a unique variant of a normal snake plant as it has very compact, cylindrical pointed leaves that grow outwards and sets it apart from other snake plants.
Light: Full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate low light conditions but growth may be slower and the leaves may turn green. It is best to place it in moderately bright or filtered light. A north or east-facing window are good locations for this Snake Plant.
Water: Minimal watering required, let the soil dry out between waterings - can cause root rot if watered too much. You should check the soil every two weeks or so.
Temperature: 60-75F
Humidity: Average household, no additional humidity is needed
Feeding: Fertilize once or twice a year during active growth which typically occurs during the spring and summer - snake plants don't really need to be fertilized as much
Propagation: Division or leaf cuttings in water
Common Pests: few pests and diseases bother this hardy plant but may occasionally have mealybugs, spidermites and aphids
Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets
