It will re-seed itself readily in favorable conditions and naturalize in gardens with poor soils. The plants are not bothered by browsing deer and rabbits. It makes a great companion plant for other early blooming perennials like blue-flowered groundcover Speedwells (Veronica), Wooly Creeping Thyme (Thymus), and Sea Thrift (Armeria).
