The Caladium ‘Carolyn Wharton’ is a beautifully expressive houseplant, known for its soft, heart-shaped leaves washed in shades of pink, green and white. Each leaf feels almost hand-painted, with delicate veining and subtle colour shifts that give the plant a light, airy presence. It’s a variety that draws you in the closer you look, with no two leaves ever quite the same.

Supplied in a 13cm nursery pot, this is a well-established plant with enough presence to stand out, while still feeling refined and easy to place around the home. Caladiums have a natural softness to them, bringing a sense of calm and gentle movement that works particularly well in quieter, more considered spaces.

Often grown for their foliage alone, Caladiums are all about colour and texture. ‘Carolyn Wharton’ offers a slightly more muted, romantic palette compared to brighter varieties, making it especially easy to style in modern interiors without overwhelming the space.

Caladium ‘Carolyn Wharton’ is a seasonal plant, naturally dying back in autumn and winter before regrowing in spring. During dormancy, reduce watering and keep the tuber warm and dry until new growth appears.

Care is simple: place in bright, indirect light, keep the soil lightly moist while actively growing, and maintain warm temperatures above 18°C for best results.

Styling tips

Place this plant where its delicate colouring can be appreciated up close, such as a side table, shelf or bedside.

The soft pink and green tones pair beautifully with neutral interiors, light woods and natural textures.

Works well as a contrast to darker foliage plants, adding lightness and variation to a collection.

Ideal for bedrooms, reading corners or calm living spaces where a softer aesthetic is preferred.

Care guide

Caladium ‘Carolyn Wharton’ prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its colour and leaf detail.

Keep the soil lightly moist during its growing season, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.

Avoid cold draughts and keep in a warm room, ideally above 18°C.

As a seasonal plant, it may naturally die back during autumn and winter. This is completely normal, and it will regrow when conditions warm up again.

Why choose Caladium ‘Carolyn Wharton’?

This is a plant for those who appreciate subtlety and detail. Its soft colouring and gentle form offer something different from bolder foliage plants, creating a more relaxed and considered feel. It’s particularly rewarding for those who enjoy watching plants change and return with the seasons.

Interesting facts

Caladiums are native to tropical regions of South America, where they grow in warm, shaded environments beneath the forest canopy.

Their seasonal growth cycle means they naturally rest and regrow, rather than staying constant year-round.

The name ‘Carolyn Wharton’ is associated with one of the classic Caladium cultivars, prized for its distinctive pastel colouring.

FAQs

Is Caladium ‘Carolyn Wharton’ easy to care for?

Does this plant lose its leaves?

Is it suitable for beginners?

Comfortable chair constructed with good quality materials
Color: Dark, Color: Dark
Having purchased several chairs from Amazon over the years, I would rank the Marsail Executive Office Chair Ergonomic Desk Chair as one of the better quality options I've received. Here is a breakdown of my experience: Build Quality & Aesthetics I was immediately impressed by the quality of the base. It is crafted from brushed metal and has a substantial, premium feel that sets it apart from cheaper plastic alternatives. Additionally, the pneumatic height adjuster was easy to install and operates very smoothly. Comfort & Ergonomics -- Padding: The padding is not quite as thick as I expected, but it has proven to be very comfortable to sit in so far. Sometimes I am in the chair as much as 10 hours per day, and the foam in the seat holds it's form all day. -- Support: The chair does not include built-in lumbar support, so I am using a lumbar pillow. However, I actually find this preferable; it allows me to adjust the pillow to my exact needs or remove it entirely depending on how I'm feeling. -- Head support and tilt: I like to work in an upright position, but I sometimes i like to lean back for a rest. The chair leans back just enough to allow me to rest my head, but not so much that I feel like it will tip over. The head support is subtle too - it doesn't hurt my neck or force me to rest in an awkward position. Functionality -- The mobility of this chair is excellent. The wheels are high-quality and roll very smoothly on my hardwood floors, which is often a pain point with other office furniture. Final Verdict Despite the thinner padding and lack of integrated lumbar support, the superior materials and smooth mechanics make this a decent value for the money. It’s a sturdy, well-made piece of furniture.

Good quality office chair with movable arms
Color: Dark, Color: Dark
This chair was relatively easy to put together. After unboxing and laying out all of the parts, my husband and I built it in 22 minutes. We noticed how the instructions have you put the tilt mechanism bracket on after putting the back and arms on. Another chair we built was the opposite, which made attaching it to the base actually easier. That way just made more sense. This way, you put the back and seat together using the arms, then you attach the tilt mechanism to the bottom of the seat, but the seat is at an angle when you do this. Then you lift the whole chair and place it down onto the legs. I'm glad there were two of us to do that part. We also noticed one of the holes for screwing in the arm bracket was not lined in metal like the rest of them were. It still worked, though. It does rock a bit back and forth. The height adjusting rod also locks the chair in place for when you don't want the chair to lean back. There is a knob underneath that allows you to loosen or tighten how much it moves when you lean back or rock. The material is faux leather. It looks like real leather and feels pretty good. This makes it easy to clean. The arms can be raised level with the back of the chair to make it easy to slide out of the side of the chair. Overall this chair has a pretty classic look to it and is comfortable to sit in. It even has some lumbar support. The way the back of the chair and the seat of the chair connect together leaves a little bit of a gap. Nothing major, but you could lose coins or keys through the gaps between the cushions. If you have a cat, this would be a great way for them to poke their paws through and say hello.

Nice office chair!
Color: Dark
This is a nice office chair. All of the features work as stated. I would say the seat is slightly more firm than I prefer, but comfort is subjective. The pleather is soft and I like that the arm rests fold out of the way.

This Marsail Executive Office Chair Is Excellent For A Comfortable And Polished Desk Setup
Color: Dark
This Marsail executive office chair is excellent, and it brings together comfort, support and a clean professional look in a very practical way. The PU leather has a smooth, polished presence that suits a desk chair well without looking overly bulky. I appreciate that the design includes flip-up armrests, a height-adjustable seat, swivel movement and rolling mobility in one complete chair. The cushioning gives the chair a substantial seated feel, while the back design adds support without making the chair look heavy. It is an office chair that feels thoughtfully built for daily desk work, focused tasks and general seated comfort. The chair arrived securely protected and in very good condition, with the main parts kept in place well through transit. The PU leather surfaces looked clean, smooth and free from distracting marks when unpacked. The base, wheels, armrests, backrest and hardware all appeared properly finished and ready for assembly. Nothing about the chair parts looked loose, flimsy or poorly handled when it arrived. The included components were organized. The appearance of this chair is one of its strongest qualities because it has a dark, sleek and professional style. The chair fabric gives it a refined executive look, while the breathable mesh center keeps the backrest from appearing too solid or oversized. The flip-up armrests blend into the design nicely and add a cleaner profile when raised. The chair has a balanced shape, with a supportive back, plush seat and wide base that all work together visually. It looks modern without being too flashy, which makes it easy to place with different desks and work areas. Functionality is where this chair becomes especially practical because it is easy to put together and simple to adjust. The height adjustment works well for getting the seat into a comfortable position at a desk. The swivel and rolling movement make it easy to shift, turn and reach without the chair feeling stiff. The reclining range and gentle rocking function add a useful option for leaning back during breaks. The flip-up armrests are especially convenient because they allow the chair to tuck under a desk more easily and create extra freedom of movement when needed. The value is strong because this chair offers several useful features in one well-rounded design. The thicker cushioning, contoured support, PU leather surface, breathable backrest, reclining function and flip-up armrests all add to its usefulness. The sturdy base and stated 300-pound support rating also give it a more dependable feel than a basic desk chair. It provides the comfort expected from an executive chair while still offering space-saving details that make it practical. For the features, comfort and overall build, it delivers a very complete office seating option. I highly recommend this Marsail executive office chair for anyone wanting a comfortable, polished and functional desk chair. It is excellent, easy to put together and built with enough adjustability to support different work habits. The combination of plush cushioning, ergonomic shaping, smooth movement and flip-up armrests makes it especially useful for a home office or workspace. I also like that it has a professional look without sacrificing everyday convenience. It is a strong choice for dependable seating that looks good, works well and offers solid comfort.
