The patent number also generally indicates the piece's manufacturing date and while featured in several Costume Reference
Coconut Palm Tree Petit Patriotic WW2 Vintage Figural Pin Brooch. Rare and signed with "Pat Pending Four" and "Pat 3225", this well-designed and large piece was advertised as a Patriotic WW2 brooch. This large pin was designed and patented by Maria Petit in 1941 and measures 3 1/4 inches tall and in excellent vintage condition. The patent number also generally indicates the piece's manufacturing date and while featured in several Costume Reference Jewelry books (See Brunialti American Costume Jewelry Book 2, N-Z, page 166 reference attached), nothing else but the designer name and her British citizenship is known. The enamel and pot metal are both in perfect condition. The tree is part of a large private collection and carefully stored in acid-free tissue in a controlled environment for the last 70 years. One of my favorite War-time brooches.
