Native to
Philodendron 'Whipple Way' is a tropical plant with origins likely in Central and South America, where its natural habitat is humid and shaded, influencing its indoor care needs.
Water
Keep the soil of this plant consistently moist but avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again, and ensure the pot has drainage holes to let excess water escape.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal for the Philodendron 'Whipple Way'. Direct sunlight can damage its leaves, but providing bright, filtered light will help maintain the plant’s vibrant variegation. If it receives too little light, its variegation may reduce, resulting in greener leaves.
Humidity
Philodendron 'Whipple Way' prefers high humidity levels, around 60% or above. This makes it a good candidate for rooms with higher moisture levels, like bathrooms, or near a humidifier.
Temperature
This plant enjoys warmth, with an ideal temperature range between 18-26°C. Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C, which can stress the plant and slow growth.
Propagation
Propagation can be achieved through stem cuttings. Take a healthy stem with at least two nodes, and root it in water or well-draining soil, placing it in a warm, bright location until new roots form. This allows you to easily expand your collection of this rare plant.
