Anthurium longissimilobum

Anthurium longissimilobum is a Peruvian Anthurium species with long, narrow, triangular-subhastate leaves and extended posterior lobes. The blade shape gives the plant a stretched, arrow-like outline as it climbs, with the rear lobes forming a deep sinus behind the main blade.

This is an appressed-climbing epiphyte from the Huánuco region of Peru, where it was described from wet forest transitions around Tingo María. Indoors, its long lobes need space, vertical support and a root zone that stays airy after watering.

Leaf structure of Anthurium longissimilobum

  • Leaf architecture: Narrowly triangular-subhastate blades create a long, lean outline.
  • Posterior lobes: Very long rear lobes form the feature behind the species name.
  • Venation: Primary lateral veins can create a distinctive S-shaped pattern.
  • Growth form: Appressed-climbing epiphyte with short internodes.
  • Origin: Described from Peru, especially the Tingo María area in Huánuco.
  • Growing setup: Benefits from vertical support and a chunky epiphyte-style mix.

Long lobes, climbing growth and space

Anthurium longissimilobum develops its shape through length and narrow leaf architecture. The posterior lobes can extend close to the support, so the plant needs room behind and beside the leaf to keep the blade from creasing.

The climbing stem and short internodes suit a pole, plank or other vertical surface. A stable support keeps the growth upright and gives new leaves space to open without bending the narrow blade or marking the long lobes.

Habitat notes for Anthurium longissimilobum

This species is associated with Peruvian wet forest transitions between Premontane wet forest and Tropical moist forest. That background points to warm conditions, consistent moisture, strong drainage and stable humidity in an oxygen-rich root zone.

Care for Anthurium longissimilobum

  • Light: Give bright filtered light. Direct sun can scorch the extended leaf tissue.
  • Water: Keep the mix lightly moist, then let excess water drain fully so the root zone stays oxygenated.
  • Substrate: Use a coarse Anthurium or epiphyte mix with bark, fibre and mineral structure.
  • Support: Provide a pole or plank early so the climbing stem can hold a steady vertical line.
  • Humidity: Keep humidity stable while new leaves unfurl, especially as the long lobes extend.
  • Temperature: Maintain warm conditions and protect the roots from cold wet substrate.
  • Spacing: Leave enough clearance around the plant so the long posterior lobes do not crease or rub.

Common issues with Anthurium longissimilobum

  • Marked lobes: Long leaf sections can crease or tear when pressed against shelves, supports or neighbouring plants.
  • Distorted new leaves: Raise humidity stability and check that new growth is not caught against the support.
  • Root decline: Refresh compact substrate and improve drainage if the pot stays wet for too long.
  • Brown patches: Move the plant away from direct sun and check for heat buildup near glass.
  • Loose climbing stem: Tie new growth gently before the stem bends away from the support.

Safety for Anthurium longissimilobum

Anthurium longissimilobum contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep leaves, stems and cut sap away from pets, children and sensitive skin.

Botanical background

Anthurium longissimilobum was described by Croat in 2008. The epithet refers to the very long lobes, a direct match for the extended posterior lobes that shape the leaf.

Yummy and great alternative!
I’m a regular user of Benefiber powder. I add it to my protein shakes in the morning - but there are days I don’t have time to make a shake. I needed an alternative source for fiber and decided to try these. PROS: - Tasty! I really like the fruity flavor. It’s not too strong of a flavor and it leaves a decent aftertaste. - They’re easy to chew, swallow, and go down. - Container comes with 126 gummies which will definitely last a while. - Freshness is good. I’ve opened and shut the container several times over the last couple of weeks and the remaining gummies stay soft. - They work to keep me regular, which is nice because I don’t always have to have the powder. CONS: - They make my husband gassy and bloated. He isn’t used to daily fiber, so maybe it’s just going to take some getting used to.

Great flavor, great value!
I was truly impressed with these chewable vitamins! First, they have a delightful flavor, possibly a mix of orange and raspberry, and they taste pleasantly sweet. The texture resembles that of fruit snacks rather than gummies, as they did stick to my teeth slightly, but not for long. You receive a good supply of 42 servings (with 3 chewables per serving). I did find that they contain a bit more sugar than I expected (2g), and I wish they included at least some amount of soluble fiber. However, with 6g of dietary fiber, they complement my usual supplement well. Overall, this is a great value for the money and an impressive supplement.

delicious
I take fiber everyday and these are a great way to increase the amount I am able to get. I have used this brand for years and these are no less wonderful than their other products. They taste great, (not too sweet) and are soft. They are the size of a small marble and are easy to chew and swallow. I have noticed a difference in my digestion since starting them. They can cause some gas so just be aware of that, it is from the increase in fiber not necessarily the gummy. 6 grams of fiber per serving, which is 3 gummies so there is about 42 servings in this bottle. It works out to be about a .65 cents a day, which seems like an okay deal. Gummies do tend to stick together the farther into the bottle you get so keep that in mind, once you open them you should finish the bottle soonish.

very yummy prebiotic gummy
I've been looking for an easy and tasty way to boost my fiber intake, and these Benefiber Prebiotic Fiber Supplement Gummies have been a fantastic discovery! The Citrus Berry Splash flavor is absolutely delicious, making it a treat to take every day, and quie effective. Since they are gummies, you don't have to worry about mixing it or dissolving it in water. I love that they provide prebiotic fiber, which is so important for digestive health and nourishing good gut bacteria. I've noticed a significant improvement in my regularity and overall gut comfort since I started taking them. The 126-count bottle offers great value and ensures I have a consistent supply. If you're looking for a convenient and enjoyable way to support your digestive system, these gummies are a must-try.

Great Tasting Fiber Gummies, that Actually Work
Unlike some fiber gummies, these taste great! They’re an excellent alternative for anyone who struggles with swallowing pills or mixing powders. I really like both the flavor and the texture. They’re soft, easy to chew, and much more enjoyable than many other fiber supplements I’ve tried. The only minor issue is that they sometimes stick together in the bottle, but a quick shake or gentle tap on the counter easily separates them. I’ve experienced no unpleasant side effects, and I noticed an improvement in my digestion after just a few days of use. Overall, these are convenient, effective, and actually enjoyable to take. Highly recommend!
