Common Name: Silver Falls, Silver Nickel Vine
Origin: Native to arid and semi-arid regions of the Southern United States and Mexico
Description:
Dichondra 'Silver Falls' is a stunning trailing plant with shimmering, silvery-lavender foliage that cascades like a waterfall. Its small, fan-shaped leaves and soft texture give it a delicate yet dramatic look, making it a favorite for hanging baskets, vertical gardens, pots, and ground cover. It’s heat-tolerant, drought-resistant, and fast-growing — ideal for adding texture and contrast to any plant display.
This beauty shines both indoors (with enough light) and outdoors and pairs especially well with succulents or other drought-tolerant companions.
🌱 Care Tips:
Light:
Thrives in full sun to part shade. Outdoors, it loves direct light. Indoors, place it in the brightest spot you can offer—preferably near a north or west-facing window.
Water:
Let the top layer of soil dry out between watering. It’s drought-tolerant once established but prefers consistent moisture during the growing season. Avoid overwatering, especially in cooler months.
Humidity:
Tolerates low humidity well. Perfect for both dry indoor air and outdoor summer heat.
Temperature:
Prefers warm temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (68°F–86°F). Not frost-hardy, so bring it indoors or protect it during cold snaps.
Soil:
Well-draining soil is key. Use a cactus or succulent mix for containers, or sandy loam if planting outdoors.
Fertiliser:
Feed with a diluted all-purpose or liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer for lush growth. No fertiliser needed in winter.
Pet Friendly:
✅ Yes! Non-toxic and safe for pets.
