Wildflower Daisy - Chocolate Daisy (Heirloom) - Berlandiera lyrata

Perennial - These cheerful native wildflowers have a tantalizing chocolate scent that wafts through the garden as they bloom in the sun. Chocolate daisies provide a continuous show of deliciously fragrant little butter yellow blossoms, each the size of a quarter. Plants are happily deer resistant, bloom hard all season and return every spring to perfume the garden. Chocolate daisies attract pollinators and butterflies all summer long. Who knew they love chocolate as much as we do!

Soil & Water: Chocolate daisies, native to the mesas and plains of the Southwest, thrive in average soil, but require good drainage to thrive; if soil is heavy clay, add organic material to improve drainage before sowing. Plant in large groups in full sun near where you walk for maximum fragrance impact.

Planting & Growing:Directly Outdoors: In the spring, several weeks after the last frost date, sow in a sunny garden spot with excellent drainage. Sow 2" apart and cover lightly. Keep moist but not soggy while awaiting germination. When seedlings are well established, thin to 6" apart so plants have room to mature. Indoors: Start seeds indoors about 6 weeks before night temperatures are above 50°F. Sow seeds 2 - 3" apart in a container of seed starting mix and cover lightly. Keep seedbed moist but not soggy while awaiting germination. When outdoor weather is warm and settled both day and night, plant seedlings 6" apart in a sunny, well-drained garden spot.Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage re-blooming. Blossoms are an important source of nectar for pollinators and beneficial insects. Plants die to the ground in winter, returning in spring and gaining size over the seasons.

I LOVE Rita's books and even though my TBR is out of control, I always get to her books as soon as possibe. And I am Never disappointed! That love story is always key in Rita's books no matter the genre. The relationship is challenged because, lets face it - people are flawed. Lies and secrets are discovered, and not all small ones. But the love outweighs any stirrings of distrust, and vulnerability and forgiveness shine through to get the happy ending for our MCs - with an exciting and dangerous mystery to solve along the way! All the components are present to make this book Another Amazing Read from Rita Potter!!

That’s what I wondered, and then I read this awesome story that blew my thoughts apart. I loved how Drew brought us on her journey to discover what happened. I was blown away at this seemingly complex telling that I was hooked and flipping as fast as I possibly could to see if Drew would find Kate. What Drew found was previously unknown information that kept guiding her to more clues. I was fascinated as each clue led us to the ultimate confrontation leading to an awesome conclusion. What a journey I was taken on and thoroughly enjoyed!
