Native to Southwest Asia, this Ficus Bonsai is a member of the fig family and has a sprawling habit with beautiful Banyan tree style roots. The Ficus Bonsai is one of the most popular trees for indoor Bonsai because it’s virtually carefree and easy-to-grow for both beginners and Kokedama pros.
Kokedamas are an ancient form of Japanese Bonsai that dates to around 1600 AD. These living planters are made with moss, soil, twine, and a plant. They have a sunny disposition and are low maintenance.
Kokedama plants come with either a Tray for Basic Planter, Grey Patina or Tray for Basic Planter, White Patina. They also pair well with our Wrought Iron Planter Stand in Small, sold separately here as well as our Granite Stands and Goblet Terra Cotta Planters.
Please note that the plants you receive may be smaller and less mature than the ones photographed. They will be eager for growth in their new home!

What is a Ficus Bonsai Kokedama?
A Ficus Bonsai Kokedama is a unique and captivating plant arrangement that marries the ancient art of bonsai with the natural charm of a moss ball. The term “kokedama” translates to “ball of moss” in Japanese, and it involves wrapping a plant’s roots in a ball of moss, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. In this case, the plant used is a Ficus bonsai, a member of the fig family known for its resilience and beauty. The Ficus bonsai is meticulously encased in a moss ball, resulting in a stunning and low-maintenance display that can enhance any indoor or outdoor setting. This combination not only adds a touch of nature to your space but also embodies the elegance of bonsai kokedama.
Benefits of a Ficus Bonsai Kokedama
A Ficus Bonsai Kokedama offers a multitude of benefits that make it a delightful addition to any home or office. Firstly, its low maintenance nature is a significant advantage; the moss ball efficiently absorbs and drains water, simplifying the watering process and reducing the risk of overwatering. Additionally, the combination of moss and plant works harmoniously to purify the air, contributing to a healthier living environment. The natural beauty of the Ficus Bonsai Kokedama also serves as a stress reliever, promoting relaxation and tranquility. Moreover, its versatility allows it to be displayed in various settings, from cozy indoor spaces to serene outdoor gardens, making it a perfect choice for plant enthusiasts.
