Barbary Fig Seed Oil, also known as Prickly Pear Seed Oil or Nopal Oil, is a highly prized and luxurious oil extracted from the seeds of the Opuntia ficus-indica cactus. Valued for its potent cosmetic and health benefits, its rarity stems from the labor-intensive and low-yield extraction process.

The Barbary Fig, Opuntia ficus-indica, is a common and culturally significant plant in Palestine, where it is locally known as Sabra (صَبْر), which translates to "patience."

The plant's presence in the region is deeply rooted:

Cultural Significance: The term "Sabra" has evolved to become a popular metaphor for native-born Palestinians, symbolizing a personality that is "prickly on the outside, but sweet on the inside," much like the fruit itself.

Traditional Use: For centuries, the cactus was planted by Palestinian farmers to create living fences or hedges to demarcate land boundaries and protect crops, a practice that continues to this day.

Local Name and Fruit: The fruit is also called Sabra, and it is a popular, sweet, and refreshing summer fruit.

Extraction Method and Production Yield

The production of high-quality Barbary Fig Seed Oil is a meticulous and resource-intensive process, contributing to its high market value.

Extraction Method

The oil is extracted from the dried seeds of the fruit using a method called cold-pressing.

Mechanical and Solvent-Free: This method is purely mechanical, involving no heat or chemical solvents (like hexane), which ensures the oil retains its full spectrum of beneficial nutrients, including vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids.

Process: The fruit pulp is separated from the seeds, which are then washed and dried, often in the sun. Finally, the dried seeds are fed into a mechanical screw press to extract the oil.

Production Yield

The yield of oil from the seeds is exceptionally low, making it one of the most expensive cosmetic oils in the world:

Seed Content: The seeds themselves contain only a small percentage of oil, typically ranging from 5% to 10%.

Fruit-to-Oil Ratio: To produce one kilogram (approximately one liter) of pure Barbary Fig Seed Oil, it requires about 1000 kg of fresh prickly pear fruits. This massive quantity of fruit is needed to collect the necessary amount of seeds for a single liter of oil.

Chemical Composition

The oil's remarkable properties are attributed to its unique chemical profile, which is dominated by essential fatty acids and powerful antioxidants.

Component

Typical Percentage

Key Benefit

Linoleic Acid (Omega-6)

60% - 70%

An essential fatty acid that helps maintain the skin's barrier function, reduces water loss, and is non-comedogenic.

Oleic Acid (Omega-9)

15% - 25%

A monounsaturated fatty acid that provides deep moisture and nourishment to the skin.

Palmitic Acid

8% - 12%

A saturated fatty acid that acts as an emollient and helps improve skin texture.

Stearic Acid

3% - 5%

A saturated fatty acid with cleansing and emollient properties.

Tocopherols (Vitamin E)

~1000 mg/kg

Extremely high concentration, often 1.5 times higher than Argan oil. A powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage and UV exposure.

Betalains

Present

Potent antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that give the fruit its color and help protect the skin from aging.

The high concentration of Linoleic Acid makes the oil particularly effective for skin barrier repair, while its extremely high Vitamin E content provides superior antioxidant protection.

Health Benefits for the Skin

Barbary Fig Seed Oil is a skincare powerhouse, often referred to as "natural Botox" due to its regenerative and anti-aging properties.

1      Intense Hydration and Moisturization: The high content of Oleic and Linoleic acids ensures deep penetration without clogging pores, providing long-lasting hydration for dry and mature skin.

2      Anti-Aging and Wrinkle Reduction: The high levels of Vitamin E and Betalains fight free radicals, which are responsible for premature aging. The oil helps to improve skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and brighten dark spots.

3      Brightens Dark Spots and Hyperpigmentation: Its ability to promote cell turnover helps to fade hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and under-eye circles, leading to a more even and radiant complexion.

4      Soothes Inflammation and Redness: The anti-inflammatory properties of Betalains and Vitamin E help calm irritated skin, making it suitable for conditions like acne, rosacea, and eczema.

5      Pore Minimizer: The oil's non-comedogenic nature and high Linoleic Acid content help to balance the skin's sebum production, which can reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

How to Use This Oil

Barbary Fig Seed Oil is typically used as a luxurious facial serum due to its rapid absorption and potent effects.

Application Method

Instructions

Frequency

As a Facial Serum

Apply 2-3 drops to clean, damp skin (after toning or misting). Gently massage into the face, neck, and décolletage.

Nightly is recommended, as the skin regenerates best during sleep. Can also be used in the morning.

For Eye Area

Use 1 drop for both eyes, gently patting the oil around the orbital bone to target fine lines and dark circles.

Nightly.

As a Booster

Mix 1-2 drops with your regular face cream, body lotion, or foundation to enhance its moisturizing and protective benefits.

Daily, as needed.

Hair Treatment

Apply a few drops to the ends of dry or damaged hair to smooth frizz and add shine.

As needed.

Important Note: Due to its lightweight texture, it is best applied as the final step in your skincare routine (after water-based serums and moisturizers) to seal in all the moisture and active ingredients.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is an 8 month pregnant omega working as a waitress at a strip club and a cam girl. She starts to get very creepy vibes from a regular at the club, and her baby daddy ghosted her. She has had an online relationship with a man named Bishop through her cam girl status. One night, bishop was paying to watch her sleep and ansthe creepy regular Andrew break in and watch her sleep he tells vale to come to him at his business now. She flees and finds herself at a large security company with some.hot of alphas who are there to help her. This imegaverse is a little different than I have read, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

That ending 😫
Format: Kindle
I fell into a false sense of security and really thought this was gearing towards a happy ending. Then I realized there’s no work they don’t punish Andrew. I really liked Vale’s character. I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol

I just knew there was something about Cooper! I’m wondering if he’s about to be included but damn I’m glad he’s at least not a rapist and creepy guy, he just got called on assignment and had to go! This should be interesting! She’s gonna run and then what’s his face is gonna grab her. I’m worried! Wow that was a great book and cliffhanger! Loving this!

Wow.

Okay I’m usually not one for stand-alone’s I’m an avid series reader but my goodness am I so happy I read this! This story was brilliant & so absolutely mesmerizing. I loved reading about each character and their struggles as well as what helped them to move forward. The ending definitely brought tears to my eyes so hard. I truly wasn’t expecting some of what happened in this story. There is about to be a spoiler I am going to reveal so please stop reading if you don’t want the spoiler !!!! ⚠️ ⛔️ ‼️ I loved that the author didn’t do what most authors do with irredeemable male characters. I truly was hoping that Nate Jr. would be apart of the pack after the way he treated Astrea bc he truly didn’t deserve it. Though I must say you did a wonderful job or redeeming him as a person. I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.
