The Philodendron hederaceum 'Silver Stripes' captivates with its heart-shaped leaves adorned with silvery stripes, creating an elegant and luminous contrast. Its trailing or climbing habit makes it a versatile decorative plant, perfect for adding a touch of tropical sophistication to any interior. Its glossy texture and delicately variegated foliage lend it a modern and calming charm.

Origin : This variety comes from Philodendron hederaceum , native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, where it grows on tree trunks and in humid undergrowth.

Growth : This is a moderately growing plant that develops long, flexible stems that can climb or trail depending on the support. The leaves are heart-shaped, deep green with silver or cream lines that vary slightly from plant to plant.

Flowers : Indoors, flowering is very rare. When it does occur, it takes the typical form of Araceae: a spadix surrounded by a thick bract.

Light : It prefers bright, indirect light to maintain crisp colors and even growth. It tolerates lower light, but its variegation may be less vibrant.

Watering : Water when the surface of the soil is dry to the touch, but avoid letting water stagnate. Reduce watering frequency when the plant enters dormancy. Overwatering can cause the leaves to yellow.

Substrate : Use a well-draining, light and airy indoor potting mix, enriched with perlite or bark chips to promote drainage without using sand.

Toxicity : Like most Philodendrons, it is toxic to humans and animals if ingested.

Great message that the kids listen to
Format: Hardcover
I love the message and my kids (3 and 5) find it credible and engaging, so it's a win all around. I find the illustrations (which are either done by a 5 year old or an adult as talented an artist as I am) painful but I give the text 6 out of 5 stars so when I take a star off for the over-the-top illustrations we're still at 5/5 ;) Kids who have greater access to exclusively modern media with intense graphics may not be able to relate to the material: the graphics are a big hurdle and the text is pretty dated too. I'm sure an updated version would be even more engaging for my kids but what it lacks in exciting, current graphics it makes up for in specificity and clarity for my two.

Entertaining and helpful lessons
Format: Hardcover
My family loves this book. Used to read it to my daughter as a young girl and now she’s a teen. We still talk about the lessons learned in this book! The characters and illustrations crack me up: Smash, rip and ruin taught us a lot! And the ones without hands and noses! I couldn’t believe how long ago this book was written when we got it- all lessons still applicable today.

Fun Way to Teach Manners
Format: Hardcover
This book was one I read to my daughters when they were young and I am now reading it to my grandsons. I plan to read it to my fourth grade class, as well.

... over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!
Format: Hardcover
I wasn't sure how this would go over with my 3yo and 5yo boys but they loved it!! They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.

Manners Can Be Fun
Format: Hardcover
What a cute book! I bought it for my 2 and 3 year old boys. We are attempting to teach them simple, common manners in a fun way and they love learning through books. Manners Can Be Fun presents manners in a simple, easy to understand, engaging way. The boys enjoy reading this book and it's a great way to have positive conversations about specific situations they experience daily like sharing toys, picking up after themselves, whining, meal time. It's a fun book!
