It is a contact herbicide that acts on green tissues of susceptible plants, where it penetrates mainly through the cuticles since it is not absorbed by the roots of the plants. It is formulated as a soluble liquid that contains 150 grams of active ingredient per liter of formulation. Due to its mode of action, the product has a broad spectrum that penetrates through plants and roots, where it acts on glutamine biosynthesis, which demonstrates high tolerance to this herbicide, both in adult plants and in children and grandchildren. .
Glufosinate interferes with the action of the enzyme glutamine synthetase; This alteration causes the accumulation of ammonia, which is a phytotoxin which allows the herbicidal effect. In conclusion, this contact herbicide that acts on green tissues is recommended for applications on African palm less than 5 years old, and between streets directed on banana, corn, sugar cane, cocoa, coffee, plantain, among others.
